Johnston wouldn't ever want to sully the pristine unspoiled character of their town

The ocean of pavement directly in front of Johnston town hall. It's the intersection of Atwood Ave and Hartford Ave, each with 5 lanes (2 each direction + left turn). There is a Burger King, a Shell Station, and other car-oriented businesses along both sides of the roads.

Backed up traffic in both directions on a 2-way road in front of a car dealership. Quintessential Johnston energy

I get that American cities in general were in rough shape in the middle of the 20th century, but I just can't for the life of me fathom how anyone ever thought this was a good idea.

Awful stretch of road for any type of user, but especially for pedestrians. RIDOT has blood on its hands again. This is a 5-lane road in a residential area with a 35mph speed limit, but its design allows for drivers to regularly go 45+ between the end of Route 99 and the Mendon/Cumberland Hill split

I won't be voting for any candidates who don't vocally support safety and mobility improvements for non-drivers.

Regardless of who you’re supporting, traffic violence continues to claim the lives of our neighbors, friends, and loved ones. We need leaders willing to take bold action to make our streets safer for everyone. No more ghost bikes. No more roadside memorials. Enough is enough.
