I genuinely cannot understand how the Labour government has now had two, genuinely cultured prime ministers who both looked at Lisa Nandy’s record there and went “I’m pleased with this. I want this to continue.”

I can't work out if this is intended as a punishment to Lisa Nandy, who clearly hates the job; or a punishment to the entire UK culture sector, which is suffering as a result of that. Maybe both?

a) Hamilton remains brilliant and a pretty fantastic artistic achievement b) Cynicism and nilhism is cancer to the soul; there is a reason facism is its political manifestation. c) Tempted ernestness is The Way. Believing in things and having hope is Good Actually even if uncool

o Father I have sinned and weighed in on some tedious online discourse, by which I mean - I defended still loving Hamilton and Parks and Rec in 2026 and still finding both joy and political purpose in both of them: youngvulgarian.substack.com/p/some-notes...

Nothing says “this insurance company knows my country” than using an AI generated map of Belgium that puts Ghent in Wallonie, gives us two Namurs and a south coast on the Med.

Absolutely shit map of a country roughly the shape of Belgium with three regions, and Brussels in the middle but absolutely nothing else is right.

A Brit in the semis of Wimbledon, England still in the World Cup and Nigel Farage spending the summer arguing with a bin. Oh this happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea

Just written the penultimate chapter of my latest book. I get very emotional writing the final chapters as they are usually conceived in the early stages & have been with me a very long time. Soon I’m going to be able to tell the world about this book & I can’t wait. One teaser: it’s set in 2026!!!

Nice argument, but it’s too late. I’ve already depicted myself as the calm under pressure, cheerful, and suave Pico Lopes while you are the shocked and fearful Lionel Messi
