Bringing my A-game to sea level.

Buying Big Walk with the exact same aspirational delusion I tap into when I buy a TTRPG rulebook that I know deep in my heart I'll never be able to organize enough friends to actually play.

Went to my local bar and listened to a drunk townie (a) yell about how bad every Jeopardy! contestant is while getting half the answers wrong, (b) claim he has the best etouffe in the state and challenge two people to a cookoff, and (c) get mad because the news showed politics for a second

Paradise Lost was pretty incredible. There's something just enormously fun about a Bible fanfic that turns most of the characters into woe-is-me drama queens, but then blows that melodrama up to such lyrical and cosmic heights that its absurdity kind of becomes the point.

Reading Paradise Lost is a weird experience because the prose is so good and lyrical that I end up not reading it so much as melodramatically acting it out aloud in my house, much to the consternation of the dog.

"This neglect then of Rhime so little is to be taken for a defect, though it may seem so perhaps to vulgar Readers, that it rather is to be esteem'd an example set, the first in English, of ancient liberty recover'd to heroic Poem from the troublesom and modern bondage of Rimeing." damn, Milton
