🇪🇺President Von der Leyen has decided - the EU's first reaction to Trump's threatening letter is (for now) surrender. The retaliatory tariffs scheduled to take effect Tuesday will be again delayed to not antagonise the US during continued negotiations. The EU has not yet found its spine.

The judgment declares that four executive orders issued in 2025—Executive Orders 14193, 14194, 14195, and 14257—related to imposing duties to address illicit drug flows, border issues, the synthetic opioid supply chain, and trade deficits with China, are collectively invalid and contrary to law. The court further orders that the operation of these "Challenged Tariff Orders," including any modifications and amendments, is permanently enjoined.

Tariffs should protect workers, not billionaires. Trump’s last tariff scheme was full of special favors for his allies (including a Russian oligarch close to Putin). His 2025 plan? More corruption, more handouts, and no real strategy for American jobs. 🚫

It's not everyday that BEUC and COPA-COGECA get together: the EU-Mercosur deal fails both consumers and farmers on sustainability goals. It's time to apply the same rules to imported food as what is produced in the EU.
