SQL Server geek, college football and basketball fan, and my happy place is Shem Creek in Charleston, SC. Also, I became a cat person at some point. They won me over with their cuteness.

Has anyone else ever seen the "Cancel Execution" button in SSMS saying it is canceling the query after clicking it, but the query never was canceled and just keeps running? This happened to me a while back at an inconvenient time, and I want to know if others have seen this. #sqlserver #ssms

So we had the pleasure of spending a lot of money unexpectedly yesterday. Entire motor and pulley replacement for the garage door. The company who replaced the spring either last year or 2 years ago put the wrong thing in and finished wearing out the old motor and chain system.

It's time for a new cat tree. It is a pole with some planks. It has a spring on the top that is used to wedge it between the floor and ceiling. Even when all the bolts are tightened, it moves around too much. Last week, the whole thing came down while one of the cats was climbing on it.

I've lived in the Saint Louis area for 2 decades now, so I'm excited to see Saint Louis University men's basketball do well this year and dismantle their 1st-round March Madness opponent. So far, they are giving #1 Michigan a close game.

For #InternationalWomensMonth I'm highlighting Amy Abel with a quote she wrote on her blog (aaa-dba.com): "You remember where you came from and acknowledge where you are now." This takes on different meanings at different times, but it's so powerful I've saved it. #datawit #celebratingwomen

I watched two really good college basketball games yesterday. #4 Arizona against #2 Houston at Houston. That was followed by #1 Michigan hosting #3 Duke. Both games were close, well executed games that were battles between well-coached teams. It was fun to watch the excellent play of the teams.

Trying out a note-taking app called Obsidian to see if it can help organize my learning, my presentation, and other content creation ideas. Any thoughts from folks who have used it or something similar?

So, this is a thing that just happened! 😀 My cat decided to explore the kitchen cabinets. <sigh> She's never done that before. Luckily, there are no dishes in this one. Just closed spice containers.

Just watched "Young Woman and the Sea" about Trudy Ederle, the first woman to swim the English channel. It was a great story, and you should definitely watch the movie.
