If anyone out there thinks requesting books from your library not in their system, I beg to differ. The past several months, I'd guess half or more of my borrowed books have been newly purchased by the local library or the Danish Royal Library.

We have decided to remove a short story from Issue 153 of Apex Magazine. After meeting with our reading and editorial teams, we'd like to share with you what happened, and importantly, how we plan to move forward from here. Thank you for sticking with us. 💜👽

I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.

I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines. Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."

So apparently my brain finds it easier to walk away from books I'm reading in Danish (later language) than English (first language). Maybe partly because I find it more work and harder to slip away into in Danish.

I have come to terms with the Thing I Hate not being made for me, and have moved on to two splendid pastimes: enjoying Other Things with my time, and being happy that other people enjoy Their Thing.

Hellllooooo from the static! It is fundraising season for many spec mags out there. We are doing things a little differently with a small gofundme to help us into 2026. We are already at $2 and just need a little boost to help us to our goal of $2400 👻 www.gofundme.com/f/support-th...
