they chased the threat of their territory and protected their own people, they warned the next people they think might be in danger, offer their knowledge and help and when that's refused a nice, "okay! it's been real, have a nice life, I'm going home" and i respect that so hard

i'm trying to think of why i'm so pleased with how Indigenous people were included in Sinners when the Choctaw were there so briefly and I think I've mostly landed on bc it feels like an act of solidarity to be included in the landscape of America and represented like sensible people
