In the wake of the Steam Deck increasing in price (as well as a lot of other game-playing things across the board), I'd like too once again plug the Freedoom Project. It's playable as a game itself, but where it really shines is as a free drop-in replacement for the official WADs to play DOOM mods.

Retro Japanese import gaming is great because you'll have an unassuming Super Nintendo game called something like The Adventures of Sandy & Witch and then when you play the PC Engine prequel that never made it to the west, it'll have some of the most incredible gameplay and visuals you've ever seen

I've found myself drawn to the electronics and parts shops of the Denki-gai's periphery this last trip to Akihabara. My pickup: a bargain find from what appears to be dead stock of bulk-produced NEC optical mice, model MSU1175. It is in a delightfully no-nonsense beige and smells of old books.

Interesting stuff here: GPS has received an ok to rerelease an old game that's considered basically "legal abandonware" (my words) under this new system. However, digging deep into the filing (literally the last sentence, haha), the number of downloads will apparently be capped to 100 total.
