"Pokemon card" this, "gacha" that how about we collectively catch up to the latest developments in cocoa cream wafer-based gambling featuring Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Sticker Wafer Instrumentality Project (not making that up, that's what シールウエハース補完計画 translates to) also don't gamble, kids

Long and slender digital cameras of the mid-90s: The Ricoh RDC-2S. I love the horizontal form factor and flip up screen of this 1996 0.4mpx digi cam. 2mb internal storage, and offered photo transmission via a mobile/cell phone and the PHS network.
Quite rare to get a behind-the-curtain look at this kind of thing (hint: it involves banks) explained directly by the CEO of the VN developer themselves. Like a lot of these situations, it's not really a "good guy vs. bad guy" deal; it boils down to rules and funding sources.

Day 199 of posting games I own. This time, (two copies of) Kamaitachi no Yoru for PS1. I bought these back before I was keeping a list, so when I saw the original release, with obi, for only a hundred yen, I didn't think too hard about whether or not I'd already bought a copy.
driven by forces I myself do not fully comprehend, I was compelled to make this my body would not let me sleep otherwise
An amusing inversion of this happens in the PS1 horror adventure game Twilight Syndrome You enter into a verbal showdown with a dangerous ghost haunting the music room, who asks about a plot-important gemstone. The hint is missable. If you guess, the game is aware and will call you out on it.
Clannad making me pretend I've forgotten Ryou's favourite gemstone if I want to get Kyou's ending. I mean I'll do it. Kyou rules. But come on Tomoya, be real. You know as well as I do that it's tanzanite. Let's not pretend.
i can already talk to Ryza if i stay up for 36 hours, crush 5 espressos, and chase with a Strong Zero why would you need an app for that
In the wake of the Steam Deck increasing in price (as well as a lot of other game-playing things across the board), I'd like too once again plug the Freedoom Project. It's playable as a game itself, but where it really shines is as a free drop-in replacement for the official WADs to play DOOM mods.
for those on a budget, consider the following:
MRC: Multi-Racing Championship (N64) (1997) 3/4
me as I sip my wine: "I do not 'hate' the Minions, as that carries the unsavory implication that those little nuisances can elicit any strong emotion from me at all – a prospect that is /demonstrably/ untrue." the waiter at ガスト: "…so I take it you're not interested in the Minions collab menu today"
1 hour into Cyberpunk 2077: those assholes in their corporate ivory tower are gonna remember my name, so help me 60 hours in: we're gonna leave Night City, just you and me Judy I promise you we're gonna make it out of here we'll leave this mess behind, trust me please
Retro Japanese import gaming is great because you'll have an unassuming Super Nintendo game called something like The Adventures of Sandy & Witch and then when you play the PC Engine prequel that never made it to the west, it'll have some of the most incredible gameplay and visuals you've ever seen
Do you remember your first mechanical keyboard? Mine was an IBM-branded PS/2 KB I got secondhand. It was discolored, noisy as hell, and I loved it. It's been a few decades so I don't recall the model, but It may very well have been a Lexmark-manufactured Model M2, considering how cheaply I got it.

📷 𝑓/1.9 🐇 1/327 📏 6.81mm ☀️ clear 📍 Akasaka, Tokyo ✏️ i went outside again. walked around in the heat as i stubbornly sought out this spot. i got a little nostalgic for photography on real film. my memory skims over the inconveniences. funny how it tends to do that.
I've found myself drawn to the electronics and parts shops of the Denki-gai's periphery this last trip to Akihabara. My pickup: a bargain find from what appears to be dead stock of bulk-produced NEC optical mice, model MSU1175. It is in a delightfully no-nonsense beige and smells of old books.
hearing cicadas and a wind chime in the establishing shot of an anime scene: "wow it sure is summer isn't it haha" hearing them IRL: "if i get even one more minute of sun exposure i shall dissolve into a fine mist, fitting for a relative humidity of ~90%"
I really would have liked to use this clip more for this game, but the track is too short. Especially because of this track song.

I think I'll refrain from spoiling further details. Have some detectives being mauled by a box full of cats.
Day 198 of posting games I own. This time, Cat the Ripper for Sega Saturn Someone's been killing master detectives. You wake up next to the most recent victim without any memories. Soon, you're on the run from a couple of punk cops from Scotland Backyard, and enlist a detective to clear your name.
if I were to record footage of me playing a fighting game with input display on, you would probably be disgusted and horrified with what you see
Can I shout into my megaphone that this is a Pretty Big Deal for legal, by-the-book game preservation? Japanese legislation handling abandoned/orphaned IPs, called the「未管理著作物裁定制度」, recently saw revisions this fiscal year. Having an actual case regarding a video game sets some promising precedent.
Interesting stuff here: GPS has received an ok to rerelease an old game that's considered basically "legal abandonware" (my words) under this new system. However, digging deep into the filing (literally the last sentence, haha), the number of downloads will apparently be capped to 100 total.
ffs i just woke up, warn me first before you hit me with this
hashtag me update: the daily headaches are improving and I've regained 99% of my mobility I'll spare the details but now I can move around & do stuff, which is good news considering my upcoming work travel. Gaming's taken a backseat outside of some comfort stuff in my gap time. Agh, it's busy!
Gunslinger Stratos is one of those arcade games I occasionally think about even though it EOS'd in 2021 It's an arena versus game with duel wield lightgun style controls, super unique Immediately recognizable, referenced and parodied quite often at the time. www.famitsu.com/news/201202/...
