"Great teachers intentionally acknowledge, affirm, and celebrate both the social and personal identities of their students." (p. 26). Social IDs include race, religion, language, etc. Personal IDs = who we are as individuals.

My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.

Young adult happiness is falling. Percent of young people who are pretty or very happy has dropped from 88% to 76% over the last 15 years after having held fairly steady between 1980 and 2010

Tonight is the night where I constantly refresh my phone to see whether our voters approved the school budget. Imagine if corporations were held to this standard. Or if we could vote more directly on where our tax dollars went federally. Instead, it’s us public school workers crossing our fingers.

Children's brains do most of their development in the early years because learning to communicate, to control your body/emotions and be more independent of adults is so hard. But all that doesn't develop in a vacuum and we should never underestimate the work of the people involved. ☺️ #EduSky

Discovering I was trans was the greatest blessing of my life. A simple explanation for a sense of wrongness I'd felt so long I thought that wrongness was me. I credit the trans community for bringing society to the point where I could understand what was wrong and get help.
