For the past two days the epidemiologists and virologists in my mentions have been frantically chattering about an outbreak of a weird type of pneumonia in China. Watching this with some concern.

Dat krijg je als mainstream partijen, de VVD voorop, xenofobische standpunten van extreem rechts normaliseren en veel media daarin meegaan. Gecombineerd met het door Yesilgöz geboden perspectief op regeringsmacht.

In 2016, we kicked off a long term research program on how to govern the way #AI automation impacts work. Our Technequality program brought together a consortium of top social-scientists from top-notch EU universities. We predicted that mass job destruction was plausible and explored options.

Amazed by the current #ai panic. In this interview from 2019 (in which I discuss our research on the impact of ai on work) I warned that underestimating ai’s disruptive potential would be a mistake. It got lukewarm and sceptic responses, if any. Now, the other extreme. Don’t panic. Just prepare.
