Excellent trip to Pendeen yesterday, good to get to grips with Wilson’s again with Euros and reasonable no’s of Cory’s with some Greats & a few Sooties. 2 each of Bonxie & Arctic Skua. Also Minke Whale centre of mini feeding frenzy and Ocean Sunfish close inside the rocks.

Imagine seeing 106 of these beauties so far north!! (my pic from Madeira 2018). The old Estaca record was 10, the new one 10x as many! Also occurence there a fairly recent phenomenon, last few years. Cornwall watch out in July early August!

Another great morning. 100's of Black-headed Gulls appearing as the tide dropped. I saw a "smaller" gull fly by away from me with a BHG. It dropped for a few minutes and I fired off some pics. I had my suspicions and others are happy it is a 1st summer Bonaparte's Gull. First for the patch

Popped down to Churn on the Berks/Oxon downs this evening; thrilled to see the lingering 1st-summer male Montagu's Harrier (hatched in UK in 2025) come in over the ridge for a fly-around in the last bit of daylight. Superb to watch the bird in the landscape & hope they might one day recolonise here.
