Lib Dems Abroad

@libdemsabroad.org

For a fair deal for British citizens abroad. Promoted by the Liberal Democrats Abroad, 1 Vincent Square, London, SW1P 2PN England.

British citizens abroad have been let down by successive governments, each of which has drafted elections legislation and had the chance to fix voting from abroad. Both the Tories and Labour have chosen not to. Follow the link below to see how you can help our campaign 👇

31 years ago, more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were murdered by the Bosnian Serb Army. We honour the victims, stand with the survivors and remember the families still living with this loss.

Overseas membership organisations of both Conservatives and Labour agreed with us when we gave evidence in parliament: voting from abroad is broken and needs urgent improvements. At the last general election only half of postal votes from abroad got back in time. We need your help.

After ten years of the Conservatives’ Brexit experiment, the British public have had enough. Nigel Farage pocketed a £5 million ‘reward’ for the damage he’s caused, while the rest of us are paying for it dearly. It’s time to end the chaos and fix our broken relationship with Europe.

We all know a closer relationship with Europe would turbocharge our economy. Yet the Prime Minister's 'fresh start' is far too weak and unambitious. It's time for a UK-EU customs union.

Quietly introduced passport rule changes left British dual nationals locked out of the UK. Their own country. At the last election, only half of overseas postal ballots made it back in time to be counted. So they can’t vote for a government that might fix it either Help our campaign to fix this👇

UK pensioner: £9,615 a year. British pensioner in Australia: £4,381. Frozen. They could vote in a Government that promises to fix it. Except at the last election, only 6% of postal ballots from Australia got back in time to be counted. You can't fix what you can't vote on. We need your help, see👇

One voter in France received their postal vote the day AFTER the election. Only 48% of overseas postal ballots were returned in time at the last General Election. Half our postal votes in the bin. The Government's response? Start distributing ballots 3 days earlier. That's no fix. That's a shrug.

Labour are finally waking up to what we’ve been saying for a decade. We’re glad they’re coming round but now is the time for action. With worsening relations with the US we need to strengthen ties with our neighbours, and start the journey to rejoining the EU. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

This is a grave and era-defining moment for the world. Donald Trump is making wilder and increasingly concerning threats by the hour. If Trump follows through with this, Keir Starmer must immediately recall Parliament.

Trump has insulted Britain and insulted our troops – and you can bet he’ll do it again. How can the Prime Minister still think Trump should be rewarded with a state visit from our King?

On #TransDayOfVisibility we celebrate trans people and stand with the trans community against hatred and discrimination. To all our trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming members, supporters, friends and followers: We respect you, we value you - today and every day.
