New post on data centers and land use, where I go into my manifesto for why we should trust farmers less open.substack.com/pub/andymasl...
Data center land use issues are fake
We have plenty of land, data centers provide more revenue per unit area than any other building, and we should have way less farmland

You guys aren’t gonna believe this, but Woke 2 will have all the things I liked about Woke 1 and none of the things I found personally annoying. Perfect overlap. Uncanny, really.
Bluesky people are so odd about AI. I'm thankful the Bluesky dev team/founders are normal about it, at least
I am sorry but if you use the word "booster", I just cannot take you seriously. It's conspiracist hogwash in addition to its other issues.
this is cucked in so many different directions simultaneously. a mutual handjob turducken of cuckery. an ouroboros of propagandistic compliance. truly remarkable.
Gallup announces, after 88 years, it will no longer track public approval of presidents. Trump's second-term approval rating fell to 36% in December, among the lowest ever recorded by the company. The president repeatedly has threatened to sue media and polling firms that portray him negatively.
Is Will Stancil one of the first people to achieve a mystical sort of post-death legend status despite being totally alive?
It would very unfortunately be the most American thing ever if Nick Shirley ends up being a major cause of the second American civil war
Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step. 1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish. 2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.
The sad thing about this much hate is that the only cure for it is getting to know people, but that's the one thing their hate won't let them do.
"when the AI bubble pops" is the new "when the revolution comes" for leftists
instead of being mad at online did you know that you can just go outside and talk to a parrot
It is amazing that Vance has made the question "Who would be worse as President: Trump or Vance?" a non-trivial one.
I have trouble even seeing any legal or moral justification for the first strike on the boat, let alone the second. it's just (ostensible) drug traffickers. when do we just immediately kill drug traffickers, with no warning or attempt to apprehend?
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing "Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions." Report by @alexhorton.bsky.social @ellenwapo.bsky.social o.bsky.social
all of this is good minus the part where it crowds the sidewalk. they need some way to prevent that
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society: Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.
I am guessing the majority of people are either okay with both or not okay with both. (so, either fine with AI trained with consensual or non-consensual data, or not fine with AI trained with consensual or non-consensual data)
Would people be cool with an LLM trained entirely on synthetic data and data sourced by consent?
