It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

Been meaning to read this for years, and it is slightly slow going, but every time I start getting bored by descriptions of the sublime Italian landscape, someone gets kidnapped.

Today I finally saw a doctor about my stupid knee and he was very nice and thorough and took it seriously (unlike the doctor 3 years ago who laughed at me because I was 30 and 'knees click'). Blood tests tomorrow, X-ray at some point in the near future. Gotta call the physio.

Yesterday. Newcastle to Torquay. Broken train at Derby. Unlikely friends in 33 degree temps. Crowded vestibules. Standing in carriage aisles. A can of Stella from a kind stranger. A shared taxi from newton abbot, paid by another kind stranger. ☀️

Very proud of myself for doing a live presentation to probably the biggest crowd I've faced so far, and being on my first live panel! NAG is the perfect place to face any fears you may have around public speaking, as it provides the kindest captive audience you could hope for

NAG is starting later on day 1 to allow people to travel here. As I live in Devon, I came over last night, and am now enjoying the most unhurried conference morning of my life.

I'm off for a week, in a week's time! NAG conference in Nottingham and then some time in Sunderland with my bestie. Can't wait and need a break but VERY ANXIOUS about the amount that I need to get done by then. And when I get back it'll be nearly June?!?!?

It is my 8 month anniversary of my systems role. While I am still wildly out of my depth, I at least feel I now have the equivalent of a pool noodle of knowledge to keep me from drowning. Apologies for the tortured metaphor but I am very very tired 😂

Today I was wondering how I might start getting into writing articles for professional publication. Girl you are the editor of a librarianship journal MAYBE START THERE.

Every time I realise I'm missing a jiscmail I go to jiscmail realise I'm missing a lot of jiscmail try to sign up to too many jiscmail get flagged as spoofing by jiscmail and get kicked out of the new jiscmails
