Preseason is exactly the same as preseason has always been. Look at any EPL team’s results and you could create drama. The noise around it is because of social media - that’s the only thing that’s changed. All the journalists could do with a few weeks off. As could we. #nufc

I think I said it somewhere the other day - Nick Pope was a fucking fantastic keeper for us for a number of years. Players age and decline, it happens, it shouldn’t ruin their legacy. Nick Pope is an integral part of the renaissance of #nufc

Keegan the manager was incredible. Rekindled my dad’s love of football after the 80s snuffed it out. Read Martin Hardy’s book on him at Newcastle. They were going down into the third when he arrived, he took them to the Prem, told everyone he was going to try to win it and he fucking nearly did too.

Addendum to Chelsea transfer absurdity: while, yes, they're good sellers, they're benefiting from selling players accumulated at a time they were breaking continental rules and bending domestic ones to ridiculous degree. Which was of course the plan Governance woefully shown up

Chelsea have spent thick end of £2bn on transfers in four years, huge wage bill, broken UEFA rules repeatedly, circumvented PL's w/internal sales, performed (relatively) abjectly on pitch, now dropping £117m on one player It would be laughable if not so damaging to the game
