Great talking with you at @readercon.org, Casella! This is a fun episode, and I especially enjoyed the coverage of @portersqbooks.bsky.social. I was working in Porter Square 20 years ago when they opened, and they’ll always have a special place in my heart!

It was the time a friend heard me play a set of original music and said, “Have you ever considered just playing covers?” And he was so confused that I had an emotional reaction. “What? You have a nice voice. Why not sing songs people already know?”

If you see this, please tell me the worst/most baffling bit of creative feedback you've ever recieved. Mine is still the time somebody told me my aliens had names that were too alien. Not that they were unpronounceable, just that they didn't sound enough like human names.

Hey THE FEYWILD JOB is out in less than a week but if you haven't preordered this is a great time to do it no matter where you like to shop for books. I hear B&N is having a sale, I think that's cool, and it's hardcover so a discount could be nice there is also an audiobook release too! VICO ORTIZ!

Sometimes a book comes along with an SFF mechanic (technology, magic, whatever) that sends my daydreams into overdrive spinning off plotlines in my own life and/or my favorite media. This is one of those books. What has hit you that way recently? #BookSky

Okay, wow. I’m about halfway through Sublimation by Isabel J. Kim and I’m OBSESSED. When you leave home a part of you stays behind. This book is about a world where that is literally, scientifically true.

Bluesky is the primary place I hear buzz about new books. I also have a podcast about audiobooks, so when I l love a book I spread the word. When I decided to leave Twitter, I came here because it seemed to have the highest percentage of authors and book enthusiasts I wanted to interact with.

Author, bookseller, and publisher friends: Please keep posting your positive stories about selling books through Bluesky, and I'll package them up and show them to publishers so that we can get more book publishers and even more authors and book conversation here!
