“With no closure, all we can do is revisit our grief each year. For me, that is where the still consolation rests.” WOW. Just….what a holy word this is.
With no closure, all we can do is revisit our grief each year. For me, that is where the still consolation rests. Eicha begins with the author personifying our collective heartbreak as a “disgraced” woman. And perhaps we should all try to find comfort in the fact that none of us mourn alone.
Here to remind followers and friends that I don’t voluntarily watch snuff films and neither should most of you unless your work requires it. (And if that’s the case, make sure you have a sufficient mind and soul care support system for before, during, and afterwards such exposure.)
This Major League Cricket finish is absolutely BONKERS
Nolan Wells was a beloved son, student-athlete, & a Black boy who deserved to grow old. Though true justice would mean Nolan would be alive today, we’re pushing for the accountability his family deserves. I grieve for his loved ones & join their demands for an independent investigation.
Lindsey Graham’s death was not the Republican Senator’s demise I was expecting to read this week.
Rain delay at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on the afternoon of the 5th day of a test match between West Indies and Sri Lanka! #Windies
“Why’s it taking so long to take down the name when they put it up so fast?” yeah, undoing every single thing he’s done is gonna be exactly like that, get used to it
Been a long time since I’ve been in a dive bar to see a band….but we’re at BJ’s in Bywater to support the next generation of young musicians! #Lapis
The thing about McSweeney’s is that it tells us terrible truths in a dead-on-accurate but extremely funny way.
"A lot of the time, it’s not even grown-ups making up the stories. It’s done by AI. AI is a fancy robot that writes like a college freshman on Adderall who is using filler to hide the fact that he hasn’t done the assigned reading."
This Is Just To Say I have turned off the AI features that were in the update and which you were probably hoping to monetize Fuck you they were stupid so unnecessary and so annoying
Dear God, yes, we are absolutely telling TEENAGERS not to have children! We are telling them to have their full span of childhood before becoming parents. This is a VERY GOOD THING.
Fox News doc on lower fertility rate: "The problem is teens and young adults, from ages 15-19 the fertility rate is down 7%, and it's down 70% over the last two decades, meaning we're telling people that are young not have babies, to wait until they're in a more stable life situation"
So true. I couldn’t watch. I had to just wait for the notification.
I was a rape crisis counselor for decades and I have just one thing to say about the false accusation conversation. Believe survivors. 1/2
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE TAGGING ME IN ON THE VATICAN / PENTAGON BEEF HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIT
Saving this entire thread for a reminder of why we do the “slog” of research, writing, and editing! That is where you find the true gems.
The details are the good part! The stuff that strikes YOU! You know what makes any piece of writing good and individual? THE DETAILS.
AP News shows her treating it like a catwalk. Queen shit.
This was a fantastic story! A sweet bonus was learning the other two invitations she accepted - but the heart of the story is absolutely brilliant. “It’s just math.” 😍
After Claudia Goldin became the first woman to win a solo Nobel in economics, she got hundreds of invitations. She accepted three. One was advising WNBA players on a labor deal. She helped players land the biggest % raise in US sports history. www.wsj.com/economy/wnba...
We’re visiting family in Carson City, NV and we’re so impressed by the #NoKings rally at the statehouse!
At least three UCC churches have been damaged by the storms. Several other UCC churches have made their buildings available as shelters for those who need refuge from the elements. 📰 Full news story & link to give: https://ow.ly/hfVa50Yznb9

An unaccounted for part of the economy is how much young people virulently hate AI, despite how aggressively it's being forced on them. They realize it's making their friends dumber and ruining the world and they want nothing to do with it. From the Penn student paper: www.thedp.com/article/2026...
Re: my last reposts “Do not put money in the pocket of a woman who has sworn publicly to use it to disenfranchise vulnerable populations” is the smallest ask imaginable. It’s not oxygen, it’s not food. It’s television. You can do without. There are thousands of other shows for you to watch.
Better article re: the #TargetBoycott "The company confirmed to USA Today that it’s making no new commitments or reversals on its DEI policy." and "Black women across the country are reminding people that they started the boycott — and they’ll decide when it ends."
For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be.
A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong “Target fast,” but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasn’t his to call off.

After revelations that companies like Ring have been selling home security footage to ICE, the most common defense of keeping a camera up seems to be, “But what if I’m stalked?” And as a violence researcher, I’m just here to state for the record that police do not care about your security footage.
Home security systems are safety theater. They make us feel like we’re in control, but they don’t actually reduce the risk of violence. If anything, they’re a part of a broader, predatory industry that exploits our fears and *increases* the risk of violence to keep us spending money.
