Saying sorry, making actual amends, is actually how you get a large community to pin a badge of friendship on you (not with a knife). I don't know why this has gotten twisted. We aren't gleefully looking for evidence to cancel people forever. We're looking for acknowledgement of true humanity.

As an aside, FINE, this means I need to start going on walks to improve my cardiovascular fitness. In fact, I went on two short walks today. And I know that’s probably gonna help me feel better mentally, which is gonna piss me off 😂

I’m so glad our MA got met. 💕 I’ve gotten the high heart rate notification on my watch twice today, and one of those was after my Klonopin kicked in. Donating plasma was not gonna happen 😭 Will be setting up the one for our friends this evening or tomorrow morning. They’re having to do a mad dash

We have a tiny chirper, one whose vocal range spans the entirety of cat mews and yowls, and one who barely coughs out a mostly-silent meow except once a year when we turn the heater on for the first time, which is when there are banshee wails. You may or may not be surprised which is which.

My heart’s breaking for our neighbors/friends. They’re losing everything at once, and we can’t really help beyond giving them a night or two to figure out next steps. They scammed a widow who lost her job. Fucking monsters.

I hate to do this and don’t really have the energy to push it a lot, but Ash has had a slowish couple of months and we could really use some help making ends meet. Most urgent thing is getting food and litter for our clowder, but in all we could use about $300. CA and V are KellySMcGonigal 🥺

I mean, I also share joyful stuff, as do lots of us, but I appreciate the sincerity here in “Holy shit, everything is awful and I’m struggling” that does seem to be taboo on some other sites.

We haven’t gotten our MA need met, but we’re about to pivot to see if we can get some help for our friends. She lost her husband about a year ago, they just had to surrender all their cats, and they’re about to wind up in a shelter. We can only take the three people in for one, MAYBE two nights.

The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

Between this and their atrocious handling of trans students and faculty, my alma mater is sorely disappointing me. Bad job, KU.

Took a nap today and dreamed I met my dad when he was younger. Don’t remember much, but I do remember having to introduce myself: “Hi, Skip. You don’t know me yet, but someday I will be your daughter.”
