Argh, my nonprofit, GOAT's, powerchair motor controller research just got our Anthropic account cancelled. We are not exactly nefarious hackers, just using the open r-net library to analyze the log files of our own wheelchairs!! Anyone have a contact at Anthropic I can talk with? Thanks!

Awkward scenes aboard Artemis II as Trump stops ranting and none of the astronauts have anything left to say to him, leading to extended dead air

Update: the Tennessee House passed HB 754, which will create a public list of trans residents, by a party-line vote of 70-21 this morning. Shortly before its passage, Republicans, again on party lines, rejected Democrats' attempt to remove the provisions that collect and publish trans people's data.

1. Yesterday, Tennessee Republicans advanced a bill that will create a public list of the state’s trans people. HB 754 forces medical providers to hand trans people’s medical information over to the state government, allowing the state to identify them. transitics.substack.com/p/tennessee-...

4. Finally, this sensitive data will be released to the public as part of a “comprehensive annual statistical report,” posing a risk to the privacy and safety of trans Tennesseans. HB 754 is quite possibly the most dangerous anti-trans bill proposed so far. It must be defeated before it’s too late.

3. All four of these things are considered to be “individually identifiable” information under HIPAA, as they are specific enough to allow a a person’s identity to be discerned. As such, it will essentially allow the state to create a list of trans Tennesseans, exposing them to state surveillance.

2. The information HB 754 would collect includes the date of a trans person’s gender-affirming care appointment, the person’s county of residence, the name and contact information of their healthcare provider, and a list of all the mental health diagnoses they have ever received.

The UK just proposed new school guidance that effectively bans even social transition for trans students (using a different name, pronoun or haircut). It implements a full bathroom ban while requiring mandatory outing of trans youth if a teacher suspects they are trans. www.bbc.com/news/article...
