I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Two years after the deadly 2021 heat dome, Oregon's most populous county filed a lawsuit to hold Big Oil accountable for the resulting damages. Now Republican lawmakers are pushing federal bills to shield Big Oil from climate liability. Oregonians deserve better. They deserve accountability.
At an OR town hall, @repdexteror.bsky.social urged Congress to reject federal legislation that aims to give Big Oil legal immunity over its role in the climate crisis. “If we don’t hold companies accountable and we don’t hold our government accountable, then who pays? It’s all the people.” 👏

For the first time ever, wind and solar generated more energy than gas worldwide in April, according to data released by the energy think tank @ember-energy.org, writes @danmccarthy.bsky.social for @canarymedia.com:
Another first for renewables: Wind and solar outgenerate gas in April
It’s a milestone moment that shows just how much clean energy has matured in a short amount of time — and a lot more growth is on the way.

Happy to have had the chance to talk about this topic with @raresites.bsky.social last night! We have the knowledge to be greener in #death, just as we do in life. I believe this can help us foster both climate and psychological resilience!
Every Earth Day we talk about sustainable living. But what about sustainable dying? Modern deathcare can carry a surprising environmental footprint. Conventional burial often involves hardwood caskets, concrete vaults, & embalming chemicals. Cremation relies on fossil fuels & produces emissions.
Cemeteries can bee such hotspots for biodiversity (typo intentional). #deathstudies #cemeteries #academicsky
This is pretty amazing & like...a little funny. A NY cemetery contains literally millions of native, ground-nesting, solitary bees in the genus Andrena. They love the sandy soils & limited ground disturbance. No word on how they enjoy the dead neighbors for the 10 MONTHS they spend underground. #虫🧪
Join me on Earth Day to chat about green burial options and death awareness in Ontario. Sustainability is life-long, after all, and death is one part of life we can count on. #greenburial #sustainability #deathpositivity #deathcare
On April 22 Join rare and speaker Lauren Smith! We will explore what actually makes a burial "green," which options exist right now in Ontario and how to advocate for the ones that do not yet. Learn more and register by visiting www.raresites.org/ev...
