I want this exact problem to show up explicitly in the writing of a game one day. Actual plot point. Fully acknowledged. 100% intentional.
Playing Wolverine in awe at what Trask's security payroll must be. The payouts from life insurance alone for the thousands of them that are getting murdered would ruin the guy before me as Wolverine will be able to get to him.
82% of the way there and taking my car in for repairs tomorrow at 7am before work. 😮💨 Oh the joys! Any reposts to help me try and make this bill a little less horrendous would be so, so appreciated ♥️♥️♥️
Between this and my car repair bill, it's going to be a truly woeful week of stress. And that's all before my other bills due next week. But, you know, one freaking problem at a time 😭 Every repost helps! 💙 Trying not to panic, but bills are Stress City these days ... ko-fi.com/rjcrunden/go...
Well, there’s one character whose entire arc in #Steam-Dancer I described recently as being, “[they] really just want a hug and the universe says no hug for you.” But I can’t tell you who that is 😂 Lachlan, Valkhasio, and Rilayen would definitely all benefit from one, though
Tell me about your #AwesomeCharacters We are flipping things from yesterday! We've punched someone who deserves it, now who will the audience think most needs a hug? 🫂 Is it the same person? 😂 Are they really going through it? Or just very huggable? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

I was today years old when I learned a google doc has a character limit. Apropos of nothing #Steam-Dancer is nearing completion. #WriterSky #BookSky #Steampunk #EpicFantasy

So I’m pleased to inform everyone that Nintendo has found the final graphics upgrade shard hidden in the world, so that bit of the map completion is checked off and finished and we’re done with graphics now.

This bellicose, corrupt regime is a national embarrassment and an international danger. We could not hope for a more steadfast and welcoming ally and neighbor than Canada. 🇨🇦 I love Canada 🍁
Most American have zero interest in the US government treating one of our most important historical allies and trading partners like this. But the worst among us is running the country, thanks to the worst and most irresponsible voters among us.
This thread is why I keep watching reveal shows and states of direct and opening play showcases and coming out the other side just a little bit…*shrug* without quite having anything I obviously disliked.
the problem with games is that a lot of people still try to market it as technology and that only worked when it was new technology. It's mature enough now that "check out this amazing feature" no longer matters. Games-as-tech makes it easier to market a game based on lists of things in said game.
People have become a bit too comfortable criticising stuff they know absolutely nothing about, so if you want to improve your game dev knowledge, start here! By @alanahpearce.bsky.social.

When #Steam-Dancer is finished, let me be the first to assure you, I have no problem whatsoever just dropping lore, character, backstory, foreshadowing, theme, etc like a landmine and walking away. Curiosity about what’s going on behind the plot is half the story.
It’s about time we had a reckoning with the need so many writers feel to over-explain everything aspect of their stories, even in non Weird genres. Readers don’t need to be babied. Let us figure things out. Leave room for interpretation. Over-explanation makes writing worse.

Weird fiction seems to be having a moment but without lots of the people trying to write it actually grasping what it is. I keep reading stories where there’s clearly an attempt at vaguely gesturing towards ‘the Weird’ but they just cant help over-explaining everything. Truly frustrating stuff.

September #Promosky. I talk games, books, (WIP #Steam-Dancer), and game dev, and do #NoCommentary #longplays on YouTube. Expect lots of #FFXIV, design rambling, attempts to follow sequential book hype trends, and periodic updates on the dozen+ playlists I’ve got spinning at any one time.
As of Part 690, we’ve acquired a full set of Lucis tools. Now all that’s left is the final stages of my Curtana, and then it’s a straight shot to Heavensward. #FFXIV #longplay #nocommentary Final Fantasy XIV: The Longest Playthrough of All Time - In Progress www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Idk if this happens to other writers, but it’s shocking how often I finish my chapters by accident. I’m just plugging along do de do writes a line do de do go to write the next line and my brain says, no wait stop. Right there. Fin. And that’s it. The perfect last line. #WriteSky #WritingCommunity
I just wanna play Final Fantasy 14 all day long and nothing else 😂

The difference in utility between the use of ML to tackle big data problems that would otherwise be intractable & the use of LLMs to produce pointless slop is so large they cannot both be usefully described as “AI“. The first is making real progress, the second is dragging us towards the abyss.
I‘m far from an AI doomer, but it is amazing how many serious voices — on LinkedIn, no less! — are sharing stories about how AI slop is quickly becoming one of the top problems they see in academic writing and research “AI will 10x our research!” doesn’t seem to be surviving encounters with reality
