I remember shoegaze-related bands getting mocked for basically being "fey" when compared to the American male rockers, despite many like Ride who could rock quite well. Misogyny again.
This is the British (read: more polite) version of the American alt-right’s love for corporate grunge (Creed, Limp Bizkit) There was a systemic and industry wide selling of 90s alternative to men and thus butching it up as much as possible by leaning into misogyny, anti-PC backlash etc etc
this is a nice (non-technical, short) talk on history of flac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBb1STRW56s timely with me updating the music collection on my plex server (why did my past self think v2 vbr was 'good enough' for my music library)

Un cœur en hiver is a film of submerged passion, which only clarifies itself during the performance of music. Barring one emotional climax, when Emmanuelle Béart is allowed to let go, the whole emtional architecture of the film is presented through the playing of and intently listening to Ravel.

Very cool to see AE_LIVE_CHICAGO_290915 in Barack Obama's 2026 summer playlist. Respect.

I do love Sasha's Master Mix, but the best version of How Can I Love You More - one I will never hear again - was done a cappella by a freshman when a bunch of Korean kids got drunk and we went around the room each singing a favorite song. Hope you're well out somewhere there, Jimmy Lee.

I made up an academically sound excuse to book a large theater/auditorium at MIT, then invited friends & labmates and screened a Japanese DVD of Spirited Away with English subs many months before any official US release.
OK, we've had the talk about bullying and the discourse that's been bubbling today. Let's do something positive: What as your coolest, most favorite experience as an anime fan? Doesn't have to be anything special, just has to be something that you remember fondly.
I've got a new album. It has actual music on, with rhythms and melodies. I've been working away at this for the last 6 months, but also the last 30 years. Many, many thanks to @evelrecords.bsky.social for encouragement and support with this release. #computermusic #electronica

I wish I could watch The Odyssey in a theater, but I'm still dealing with a pinched nerve and can't stay seated for long periods. Nobody needs a guy getting up every half hour to walk around the aisles while groaning in discomfort.
Google is hosting an Agentic Cinema hackathon. I thought the name was a metaphor - the developer "directs" agents who are "actors" and so on - but no, it's actually for enterprise solutions for the entertainment industry. A bit odd they offer no info about how that industry works or what it needs.

Are there any other poems that have been made into films? Could Nolan have a crack at "This is just to say"?
