"I know the press has been saying toxic goo is bad. That it’ll suck up all the water. That it causes cancer. That it gives babies laser eyes. But isn’t this just what no-nothing naysayers do? Call into question great men who are trying to create the future?"

A Case for the Giant Toxic Goo Pit I Want to Build in the Center of Town

My take is, if execs want to erase the fun of the concepting phase by using AI, then maybe they need to take a moment and think about whether they actually enjoy their job anymore. There are plenty of other people who would excitedly take on the job given the opportunity.

I’ve never understood the “no no don’t worry guys, we’re just using gen AI for concepts not final product” angle some execs are trying to take. Like concepts aren’t the time you want interesting fresh ideas, not amalgamations of existing stuff churned together

Last year, miHoYo copied my puzzle game Ouros in Zenless Zone Zero. Because they are a recognized, billion-dollar studio and my game isn't well known, some people are now assuming that their version is the original, and mine is the clone. I hope this video clears that up.

Cute date idea: Job security, decent pay, and a unionised games industry. 🥰 The chair of UKIE @ukieofficial.bsky.social, the trade body for the UK Games Industry thinks job security is good for her, but not for you. Work in games in the UK? Join our union today: iwgb.org.uk/en/join/game...

'We've been a little bit too romantic about the idea that we should have employees and give people long-term job security' is an extraordinary thing for a video games CEO to say on record: aftermath.site/video-game-job...

I’m not great at posting at all. I’m probably quite late to it and people know all about this but if you have the capacity you should read Cobalt Red by Siddharth Kara. It’s about cobalt mining in the DRC. It’s harrowing and not an easy read but I think necessary.

Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"

Got back into reading fiction in a big way the year before last after reading N. K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy. My family and partner were very good in gifting this haul of fiction over Christmas. Already finished Blood Over Bright Haven and it’s electric

Most of us did not choose to write or draw or design so that we could put products on the shelf. We chose to do it because it’s a set of skills we enjoy exercising, that give us fulfillment. It’s like asking a pro pitcher to just let a machine pitch for them. Fuck off and give me the ball.
