Ironically, Lodoss War and the Japanese Replays actually *did* partially inspire Friends at the Table. Not only with some tonal stuff in Hieron, but before I'd ever heard the first wave of AP podcast, I'd become fascinated with RoLW and begun to read english language Actual Play forum threads.
going to publish my ttrpg saying it inspired friends at the table brb
Media Club Plus is back, this time covering episodes 7 and 8 of The Sopranos. It's flashback time, baby!!! mediaclub.plus/the-regularn...

A red flame in Barad-dûr, based on the conversation in the most recent shelved by genre episode. I wanted the city to look both industrial and unsettling, so I tried to use a real mix of building styles, and avoid too many curves/natural shapes.

Big announcement: Game Studies Study Buddies is going on hiatus after the 100th episode and will return in 2027 in a slightly different form. We talk about it extensively near the end of this episode.
The 96th episode of GAME STUDIES STUDY BUDDIES finds some time for a rather big announcement about the show and its near future, but we mostly talk about technology, critical practice, death, and the nature of images with Roland Barthes' CAMERA LUCIDA: rangedtouch.com/2026/08/03/9...

I don’t talk about this a lot but I’m a fluent speaker of Elvish as demonstrated here.

I have been enjoying @friends-table.bsky.social latest Realis adventure.

This InfoWars caper is going a little too well. We need to staff up a bit. We're hiring a Social Media Lead, who will help make InfoWars the network of the future. We need someone who is extraordinarily online, has big ideas for how things break through in 2026, and can pull those ideas off quick.

a little bit of personal lore: my culture writing career began with a cranky blog about spider-man. for Fansplaining, I imagine the end of that career, with another blog about spider-man fansplaining.com/what-spider-...
What Spider-Man Can’t Save
In which our hero contemplates a career writing about superheroes and pop culture—and imagines an ending.

MMOs are sick because of the incidental encounters you have with strangers going about their own business, not because of the prescribed activities you slot yourself into alongside a prerequisite number of players
genuinely think MMOs lost sight somewhere along the road of the ways that multiplayer in a shared, persistent world can be a wonder and not just a rote feature of the form
FFXI is the goat because I died right before the final checkpoint of the final dungeon and Ava made it tot hr checkpoint and went back to town to recruit a white mage to raise me... multiplayer is awesome
HI, I have a sick little cat right now, and vet bills have run me out of my savings. My friend Alex has set up a gofundme for me. I would be super grateful for anything y'all can throw over without making things hard for yourselves. www.gofundme.com/f/emergency-...
I have a lot of personal highlights from this interview, but getting to ask "When's Foucault?" is definitely at the top of my interviewer bucket list.
"Q&A: Romolla, from cow VTuber Evo champ to prison abolitionist historian and Antonio Gramsci's #1 Fan" I got to catch up with Best Xrd Sol NA @romolla.bsky.social about her time in fighting games, how to play Sol, and her passion for teaching political theory. www.patreon.com/pattheflip/p...
