King of Dragon Pass and Six Ages are terribly underrated. A must-play if you are interested in games that blend narrative and systems. I'm super excited about the upcoming game from these devs.

These days we're talking a lot about game preservation. Big platforms leaving physical format behind and so on. Let's not forget about mobile. It's full of platform-exclusive games, with no physical support, and games get removed all the time when the dev isn't able to update them constantly.

10 years ago, I released Sacramento. A tiny game in the vast world of video games, but a huge part of my creative & professional life. It has become a precious time capsule, a reminder of who I was then, and everything I’ve done since. Happy 10th birthday, Sacramento! ❤️ Music by Glass Body ✨

There are so many games the world forgot about that are absolutely fascinating. These days, I was thinking about Mizzurna Falls, a PS1 game with huge Twin Peaks vibes where you explore the city trying to figure out what happened to a missing classmate.

I often think about how I want more games that tackle the drama and planning we see in spy movies and shows. Sure, we have plenty of action/stealth games where you are a spy infiltrating some facility. But not a lot about what happens at the offices, plotting, considering diplomacy and so on.

Hey indie peeps. I'm going to be doing Kotaku's Indie Penance Day on Friday July 3 this year. If you have an upcoming or recently released game that deserves eyes, please email me at jwalker@kotaku.com with the subject "INDIE PENANCE 2026", and include a store link and YouTube video. Rules follow.

I think going through the Arcs campaign took us around 15-20 hours? I really like Arcs (base game), but the campaign is a whole different level. If you're into board games, you should look into trying it. We're already discussing playing again.
