A leadership which considers people entering Europe more of a problem than those same people dying is a leadership which would be open to killing people to prevent them entering Europe

Dangerous crossings must stop immediately. Smuggling networks must be dismantled. And returns must be swift, as our rules allow.

Glad to see so much uptake of this story which was first reported by Shamim, but please be aware this is entirely typical and unsurprising behaviour by the DOJ. It’s particularly cruel when the students are from Gaza but it’s also part of a pattern of unjustified visa refusals

I predicted this company would be dead or acquired by the end of 2026 and honestly I’m still predicting that. I wouldn’t hold my breath for these people ever getting hired

Engineer son of a heating and ventilating engineer here. Buildings like this are designed with air-conditioning included before any building starts. It's an integral part of the safe management of the internal environment and the building is not intended to be used with it switched off. Ever.

Not to take a corporation’s side here, but in all these stories you get the (questionably accurate) customer’s side of the story and the bank can’t give any details for legal reasons

“Institutional racism” is the great cop out, racism is just atmospheric, hanging around and infusing everyone’s decisions without any individual being racist or doing anything racist themselves. Once the idea of “racism without racists” became possible, suddenly it was the only type of racism

Our plane home from Italy had a mechanical fault so they had to send a replacement plane from Dublin. EU law says that if we’re 3 hours late arriving we get €400 each. I’ve never stared at FlightRadar harder
