Personal growth is not sending the post that started "Listen cunt..." and instead just blocking the person. It's not like A LOT of personal growth, but it's happened

I'm doing a finance-y business-y podcast interview later this week and I'm putting in some research to try to show up with receipts and... However dumb you think this GenAI Hype Bubble is, I promise you have not grasped the full totality of how dumb it actually is.

Huh so do you think given the industry headwinds, getting saddled with an additional $1.8bn/yr debt to repay is going to be good for this company or nah? Galaxy brain thinking tho - if you want people to do more with less, make damned sure they have less I guess. Fuuuuckin' hell

EA officially goes private tonight, meaning: - EA will no longer trade on the NASDAQ for the first time in 36 years - All stockholders of EA (including many employees) will receive $210/share - EA will take on $18 billion (!) in debt, putting it on the hook to pay ~$1.8 billion/year in interest

The media train don't stop - next week I'm doing a very finance and business oriented video interview that I'm nervous about. Will be my first time not talking about the AI bubble from a predominantly tech lens. That should post mid-August I'm told

Just got a draft layout of an interview/article that I think will publish next month and I'm fairly excited to show this one to the world. I pulled approximately zero punches talking about GenAI and corporate FOMO

I got to guest on Tommy's new podcast! It was really great to chat about the book in such detail, he asked really interesting questions and we got into a lot of the good stuff behind why I wrote it and why I care about it. And also how we're both stupid. Order Next Level here: linktr.ee/next_level

Months of work, a lifetime of learning, but the Levelling The Playing Field 101 Courses program launches right now. Eight €40 courses launching 10 days apart, I aim to make the critical less-spoken parts of indie gamedev accessible away from expensive visa-locked hotel bars. courses.ramiismail.com

With all the travel I've got coming up this year, I decided to treat myself to a new laptop bag from @sfbags.bsky.social - it arrived this morning and it's the most I've ever fallen in love with a bag in my life! Look at this thing 😍 (with added extras for notepad and steam deck!)

I have an urgent deadline I need to work on. I am very very very tired today. Am I working on it? No Am I resting? No Instead, I am spending the day stuck in executive dysfunction stressing myself out further. YOU LOVE TO SEE IT

It sucks that these posts are now daily. It sucks harder that it's deeply uncommon for a studio to so publicly want to support their folks and organize that institutionally. Hats off to Dual Wield Studio for being one of the most compassionate outfits in this current nightmare

Today, we’re publicly sharing that Dual Wield Studio has reached the difficult decision to conduct layoffs. If you’re hiring, please reach out in response to this post or via email to hello@dualwieldstudio.com - our priority is ensuring everyone impacted can find a great new job.

Today, we’re publicly sharing that Dual Wield Studio has reached the difficult decision to conduct layoffs. This is not done lightly; our core ethos prioritizes taking care of our team above all.
Candidly, layoffs reflect a failure of leadership sufficiently planning and acting in service of the team.

Last year, our current Leadership became aware of our company having operated at a significant income deficit for several years. We informed our team of this concern, and did what we could to mitigate it as much as possible, including the seniormost highest-paid members of Leadership deferring significant owed pay in order to extend more funds to our team.

Despite this, without more drastic action, our trajectory endangered our ability to reasonably continue to fairly compensate our team or support them in the event of financial insolvency.
Layoffs are that drastic action.

Full-time employees impacted by the layoff will receive 6 months severance pay, 6 months medical benefits, and 6 months of tailored outplacement support, with comparable severance offered to our incubation business project contributor. If we cannot continue to fairly employ people, we believe we should at least do what we can to help them find their next job.

We’re heartbroken to send away folks who have been part of what makes our team so special, and are committed to doing all we can to sustain Dual Wield Studio by learning from our mistakes to do better.

If you’re hiring, these are some marvelous folks for you to consider – please reach out in response to this post, or to hello@dualwieldstudio.com
