I might have confused myself but the extremely magnified film of the solar surface looks like interlocked Lorenz strange attractors. Which shouldn't be surprising as it's most often seen in convection.

A left-angled trapezoid on the graph of political philosophies, apply me no labels. Other descriptions might include an Architect at Large, occasionally writing complete fiction but mostly working on zettel.io See also simon_lucy@mastodon.social
J's just received a you are traveling email from Avanti West with all the wrong times. I imagine it's been hallucinated.
In which we learn that neural networks with emergent patterns of behaviour require rules.
There is a tension between those that would transport or hang those whose crimes they abhor (regardless of what they actually know of the specific crime) and those that would lock them away out of sight and out of mind. Everyone else is slightly confused.
Whilst emphasising the law about single sex spaces, especially in relation to bodily functions, the law that everyone is entitled to a safe space, and to prevent relief for anyone is unlawful should also be emphasised. Safe private spaces for everyone. Even if it's only because the Ladies is full.
if any of you know anyone who still thinks that the flagshaggers are 'just proud of their country', i want you to sit down with them and read these court documents together
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
Iran to Putin. There I've softened them up for you, go in for the kill.
I hadn't realised there'd been a trackside fire on the Severn Valley Railway, but I guess it's not surprising. So no more steam trains on the line this Summer, just diesel. BBC News - Severn Valley Railway suspends steam trains after fire - BBC News www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Severn Valley Railway suspends steam trains after fire
The railway said diesel engines would be used instead to reduce the risk of fires.

And now, a little Vivaldi. Michel Tirabosco, a renowned pan flute player, collaborating with Raphaël Froissart. He is a professor at the Geneva Conservatory. Born with physical differences, he began playing the pan flute at 7 and has achieved international recognition for his skill. #streetmusic
Ah so much rewriting of a life. Liddle didn't come to the Today Programme from outside, he'd been at the BBC about 9 years. Liddle was anti, he was never for anything and became emptier and emptier. A professional teller of lies.
Only Americans write cheques, and they can't spell them. This isn't really true but it's quite true, even if the spelling thing is a weak form of cultural resistance.
We have, what I'm assuming, are daily visits from three Painted Lady butterflies. Or maybe the Matrix is glitching.
Before starting an ad campaign regulators should calculate the tolerance for the adverts in all their forms and divide that by two. If the campaign is for a Public Service Broadcast then the divisor should be 3 or 3 weeks, whichever is the shorter. I thank you for your attention in this matter.
I started and gave up on a post about Rod Liddle and Middlesborough because it would have been unfair on Middlesborough.
when i said "this country" i meant the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland I just leave this here for the Americans
this country has produced some amazing writers, rod liddle wasn't one of them, don't be fucking daft
When I read the dialogue between Eric and "The Meat Tree" about a "fairly new" painting that was the moment for me. "Thats how antiques-people talk! Damn is this well-written!" While still reading I already started recommending "Everything will swallow you" by @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social to friends
unfortunately for all of us it's only one less rod liddle, there are more where he came from
You can't say, it's a perception that borders aren't controlled and that you will make borders secure again. Unless you both take the public as fools and as populist tools. Well I guess he does.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is fine. I think it's probably the most successful at being a Spider-Man film of all the attempts. I might take some small issue with the overlap with X-Men but that's going to be generally a thing so I'd better get over it. The overlap with The Punisher is a positive.
I'm listening to Hungarian hip-hop from the turn of the century and shouting at black cab* drivers as I cycle to work (Hackney carriage for you, Americans, take your mind out of your arse) youtube.com/playlist?lis...

The principle cause of lower fertility in industrialised and developed countries is the size of the existing population and the over competition for everything. In a global population of getting on for 8 billion a general level of 1.5 children is not a Bad Thing.
If I wanted to protect the most prestigious and highly paid jobs for the social groups who usually hold them I'd probably design an education system that discouraged poorer children from studying the entry qualifications for these jobs as early as possible..
I think I'll try to make a little game as the specimen of my new font. For now, I think I'll name it "10humps" but I'm not sure. Each glyph design is based on a 10x10 grid and I guess it look like it got humps. #textmode #typography
Miatta Fahnbulleh on The Today Programme prefixed every answer with either "Look...", or "Listen..." Which indicates it's going to be passive aggressive avoidance of the point of the question. Which was true in every case. No one trusts the person stuck with this way of communicating.
@richardsedgley.bsky.social Because they're clickbait. In answer to your deleted post.
If solar panels are films on glass with the majority of the surface transparent then large glass houses can be constructed as electrical generators. Extending that to LCD films the film can be tuned to shade the plants and still generate current.
In a sane system Humanities Lecturers and Professors (or almost any discipline) could form Cooperatives and sell services to Colleges and Universities. Of course then the Cooperatives would get the kudos of performance and Universities would stop being Universities and simply be infrastructure.
You can explicitly post about Áras an Uachtaráin as the seat of the President, 2025 as an election year, the influence of the Gaelic Athletic Association & they will still manage to interpret it as a poat about a Californian governor, I have no faith that anything less than shock collars would work
Bluesky needs a fixed tag for "this is explicitly not for the USA", probably blinking in red.
