The distinction between writing "lightly" and writing superficially when writing a trade book is so so so ... difficult.
Kudos, though, to Chatto & Windus for not handing over early electronic versions of her texts for scientific analysis after Murdoch's death in the late 1990s.

I find dense histories tricky to keep straight, but ideas-based audiobooks really work for my brain. Naomi Klein's Doppelganger, Marina Warner's Sanctuary, and Rebecca Solnit's Orwell's Roses, Lyndsey Stoebridge's We are Free To Change and Philippe Sand's East West Street are really well recorded.
