I recently reread Hank Green’s series, The Carls, and was struck anew by its commentary on the tech industry and sociopath billionaires. It felt like an early 2020s harbinger of the AI shenanigans to come, so all the news coming out about his AI usage has been confusing and disheartening.

Oh, this just made me miss Twitter, I remember a wonderfully long thread of tweets recapping folk games from all over the world. 🥲

A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, I'm gonna ramble a bit about how Mythmatch launch went. In short, it went amazing, but it didn't feel that way the whole time. I'll start with reviews. We've got 35 reviews so far and are at 100% positive. I'm super happy with that!

Mythmatch's the type of game I'd encourage devs to check out, even if you think it's not your genre The merge & movement mechanic is so fluid, it's so cool to see how this game takes a regular mobile game mechanic and really recontextualize it

Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

I’m distraught. @bterrormisu.bsky.social jokingly suggested I make black licorice rice krispies treats for Halloween, knowing full well that I HATE licorice. I took the challenge and made my typical brown butter version with aniseeds (instead of black sesame) and goddamnit, they’re delicious. 😒
