'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

The reason companies like Google are risking their entire brand to do things like AI generated imagery in Google Earth is because these companies are so thoroughly brain poisoned to capitalism and infinite growth that they have instituted mandates to insert AI *everywhere* regardless of merit.

Digitisation is great, but whenever I see people being like “yeah digitise everything, then you don’t need the originals!!” I despair. Even if you’re not interested in material culture, how *wildly* arrogant to think outcomes of digitisation are not as (if not more) vulnerable to decay and loss.

Any cool international devs (preferably with a game released in the last year or so) interested in visiting Melbourne this year (for the small price of doing a short talk??)

Our annual Steam event, the Wholesome Games Celebration, starts August 6 at 10am PT! We've curated 150+ discounts, demos, new releases, and world premieres. This year's event includes titles like Paralives, Fields of Mistria, Planet Zoo, and more!

Oh hey, yep, basically same conclusions we came to. Like even if you're willing to write off the ethical stuff, there's a bunch of super boring business reasons to not go anywhere near it. Including "it appears to erode your abilities even if you're aware of that risk going in." That's uh. Um. No.

Blue Bottle Games, as a policy, does not use generative AI. It's something we've discussed as a team, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided it was not for us. Recently, while chatting with a colleague, she mentioned it was useful hearing our reasoning. So: Sharing time! 1/12
