"You're too rich to ever really be scared. Too callow. Too complicit. It's why you don't bat an eye when I board your ship. And why the sound of the jackboots you always hear always sound a few streets over with those other people." - Captain Pritcher, Foundation S3e2

I just saw a piece in @thebookseller.com about this fundraiser - to protect and share a collection of over one million Black books in the UK, a labour of love by one collector, Baba Pepukayi, but a vital resource for the nation. www.gofundme.com/f/save-1-mil... Please share, and donate if you can.

Another #buyastrangerabook day offer! @ginger-kid.bsky.social would like to buy two people a book each, up to a tenner! Loads and loads of books are about a tenner! So, if you have something in particular you're after, just ask! UK only
If getting hold of that book is difficult today I'm happy to make it just an offer to buy two people a book to the value of £10 each instead. Better to get someone a book even if it's not the suggestion 😁
They want a world built for rapists, a private game reserve full of hobbled and declawed victims.
Rape is the central pillar of the right-wing agenda, the right to terrorize other people in the most intimate way possible.

Rolling Stone has published an extensive investigation into D4vd, the singer accused of murdering Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Here are 10 key takeaways from our story: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
can you guys retire "the right wing / chuds don't know what to do with trans men and forget they exist and will be So Confused by them!!!!" already. they are fully aware trans men exist and the thing they do to trans men is violently abuse and murder them

Someone posted this picture of neolithic lego scenes to r/Scotland on reddit so blessing your timeline with it:
Well, that new Ted Lasso episode was fucking lovely. For someone who isn't a football fan, I do have a weird special interest in the history of women's football so I'm going to LOVE this season.
Just answered the door to a delivery guy who looked and sounded Swedish and he pronounced my surname similar to the Scottish Gaelic way and it was fucking charming.
The EHRC guidance does not apply to workplaces, and trans people are not criminalised for using any toilet in the UK. But the whole point of this - as with Section 28 back in the 1980s - is to intimidate people. Don't give into that fear.
Just a reminder that: - this isn't for workplaces and if your work is trying to implement it scare them over discrimination claims - the onus is on the service provider, not the service user to comply - the code *itself* says enforcement of toilet facilities is unworkable and low priority
It’s disgusting for the Conservatives to ask Jewish groups to meet their ex-neo-Nazi candidate, presumably in the hope he will charm them and they’ll offer their blessing. They should not expect Jewish people to sanitise this appalling choice. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Tories offer Jewish groups meeting with ex neo-Nazi activist candidate

I remember when I was working in a new build shop with a plumbing issue & we had to close the customer toilet but were letting customers in to use the staff ones when a young trans woman looked at the single occupancy toilets & asked which one she could use. I didn't really understand at the time...
You are also not expected to try to check the sex of people using your facilities. In fact, if you try to, there's every chance that you could be breaking the law. Leave people to live their lives in peace.
44% reduction in illegal crossings to the UK, funny how that doesn't seem to be all over the headlines in Britain.
📉 Irregular border crossings into the EU: down 37% in the first half of 2026 🔹 Just over 49 000 detections 🔹 Steepest drop: Western African route (-67%) 🔹 Only increase: Western Mediterranean (+17%) More info on our website.
Today, shamefully, government guidance comes into force that trans people should be segregated or forced to use facilities that don't match their lived gender. It's important for businesses and organisations to understand that this is guidance, not a requirement. So don't obey.
Mate, that's not a president. That's a dictator. You're describing a dictator.
Cornyn: "There's nothing we could do to rein in the president"
I barely leave the house and I hate to be perceived but if I ever see anyone getting questioned about their gender in public, I will call up 20 years of customer service experience and make a fucking nuisance of myself with the company/organisation's head office.
Fuck the EHRC, fuck Labour, fuck the Supreme Court, and fuck everybody else that made it happen or stood by and did nothing
Happy Secregation Day! Woop woop! Just kidding about the happy part, but it is segregation day. #SegrationIsDiscrimination #SegragationDay
There it is. Great Britain is now officially segregationist. Just because it's (allegedly) legal, doesn't mean it's right. We should resist. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
New guidance on single-sex spaces comes into force
The code covers spaces open to the public, such as toilets and changing rooms in England, Wales and Scotland.

Had this a lot recently. People explaining things to me that I didn't mention in a 300 character post that was only tangentially related, and that the briefest glimpse of my bio would suggest I'm fully aware of I'd never have a go at anyone for that, but it's not *not* annoying
Noticing some folks seem to think writers just say clever things without understanding how the world works, as if we're all naifs who just happen to be good with words instead of people with formal educations and a professional interest verging on requirement in the ability to conduct research
