Glycomics - Software Dev - Mass Spectrometry #TeamMassSpec

We have been working with the amazing team at Galaxy Australia to get GlyCombo live on Galaxy over the last year. What a great project to see come to fruition!

Glycomics analysis is often limited by a lack of reproducible workflows. To address this, GlyCombo (Protea Glycosciences) is now live on #GalaxyAustralia. This project turns a CLI tool into an open browser workflow on WorkflowHub. Read more: www.biocommons.org.au/news/glycombo

What an amazing opportunity to present my new work with GlyCombo CLI! I had a wonderful time talking to everyone about the new software and all the applications.

Following, we have @maiakelly.bsky.social from Georgia Tech/Protea Glycosciences, presenting the command line version of GlyCombo. Specifically, how it has been developed from a standalone application to a module as part of an integrated #glycotime bioinformatic workflow.

I’m on my second Lenovo laptop that has had major faults. In my meeting ten minutes ago the whole laptop died for good. It is less than a year old. I was always a die hard Lenovo user. What company should I be looking for my next laptop?

Recently, We saw a discussion on the role of open-source in proteomics. Here, experienced developers & researchers maintaining OS tools for years shared this comment to guide newcomers in the field about OS and its role in the field. 💻 #Proteomics #OpenSource chemrxiv.org/engage/chemr...

Open-source and FAIR Research Software for Proteomics

Scientific discovery relies on innovative software as much as experimental methods, especially in proteomics, where computational tools are essential for mass spectrometer setup, data analysis, and in...

My friend texted our grad school group chat asking if we thought a request to be a reviewer was a scam because it was for a field they aren’t in (fish). A quick google search later… There is someone with the same first, middle and last name as him working in fish research. Lot of fish puns today.

Introduction! Hi, I am Maia. I am a mass spectrometrist, with my PhD focused on glycoproteomics and glycomics. I am currently going part time for another degree in Computer Science. My focus is on combining these two to create tools for glycomics and glycoproteomics analysis.

Given the influx of people at bsky, thought I would formally introduce myself 👋 I'm Chris, an Australian glycoscientist who has studied the field for >10 years now (across both AU and US), starting (MRes and PhD) in the lab of Prof. Nicki Packer. I believe LC-MS glyco still has a lot to discover.

One of the things I am most proud of is co-chairing the Females in MS awards committee for two years. During that time we awarded $10,000s to women and people from other underrepresented groups working in mass spectrometry. I'm glad to see the current co-chairs continuing that theme of inclusivity.

For those of you that prefer feeds over following, I've figured out how to convert starter packs into lists, so you can get your glyco fix as a feed. If you're on the starter pack, you're on the list, and anyone new on the starter pack will get added to the feed!

I am one of the chairs of the FeMS Award committee and it has been such a privilege to see all the wonderful applicants for the Empowerment Awards. One of the recent winners, Faith Johnson, was interviewed by LCGC. Read her interview here: www.chromatographyonline.com/view/mentors...

Mentorship in Science: Insights from FeMS Empowerment Award Winner Faith Johnson

LCGC International sat down with Faith Johnson of ECOLAB to discuss her career and work with the Females in Mass Spectrometry (FeMS) group.
