By day I work in research development, by night I mostly sleep. Somewhere in the middle I write fantasy fiction, play D&D and watch movies and tv. Inevitably this account will be full of pictures of my dog. Refugees always welcome. She/her 🇮🇪
A rare moment of me remembering a recommendation I screen grabbed led to me reading this in one sitting yesterday. I felt all the feels. It’s more hopeful than satire, but it’s still clear eyed about the world. I felt heart-full after reading it #WhenWomenWereDragons #BookRecommendation #Books
Does Gladiators even mean anything without Cyclone? I hope she goes on doing things she loves but I’ll miss her pretend scowling and unbelievable strength. #gladiators
I went to open my window more at 5am and saw some surprising cat activity outside in our shared garden! #cats
Two people tried to enter a screening of The Odyssey without buying tickets after hiding inside a miniature model of the Trojan Horse. 😂😂😂
I think you can skip #DisclosureDay and just watch the Simpsons/x-files crossover episode
a cartoon character says hello children i bring you love in a forest
Alt: Mr burns, from the Simpsons, in a hospital gown with a “healthy” green glow with big, spacey eyes. Caption says “hello, children. I bring you love.”

Stupid smart tv decided to turn itself on in the middle of the night and I can only assume it’s a conspiracy to make me what football.
It’s coffee for me. In a way it’s good because I’d never go for those fancy expensive coffees but then there’s also so many cakes that are ruined by “adding a bit of coffee”. Do not add coffee to a chocolate cake.
What’s the most widely enjoyed food that you can’t stand, not because of allergies or anything but just because you hate it?

For almost a year Kit Birks has been solo walking the length of Europe raising money for suicide prevention. I’ve been following her journey for most of that time and she’s just days away from the end. Giving her a donation today. givestar.io/gs/stride-be...

At this age I’m going to the gym to have energy. Unfortunately all the energy is used up at the gym.
Evergreen reminder: If you've enjoyed an indie book, a simple review across platforms can really do wonders for it. It helps provide legitimacy and helps other readers! It doesn't have to be a multi-paragraph essay, just a simple, "I liked this for these reasons!" is great.

It is weird having a name that unusual in your generation. It’s the Irish form of Mary so it’s a known name, but it’s actually rare to meet one of us. Which is probably why I’m finding the new Bord Bia ads so perturbing share.google/JfEfHRapooxv...

Listening to @yrfatfriend.bsky.social on @sofiehagen.bsky.social ‘s podcast and reminded of the time I went to buy a harness for my dog and the sales person suggested I’d want the green harness rather than the burgundy one I was holding because that was for girls.
what’s the matter, you’ve barely touched your easter potato
This week on Home of the year, Hugh is distressed by a floor, Amanda is disturbed by a hallway and Siobhan wishes those chairs were a different colour. I’m still wondering where they keep all their dust and clutter.
What I learned from this week’s Home of the Year 1. There’s too much colour 2. There’s not enough colour 3. You haven’t thought enough about every little thing 4. You’ve thought too much about every little thing 5. Everywhere should have more lamps
I have yearned for the spring sunlight but now it’s here I’m just cursing it for showing up all the dirt that’s been hidden all winter!
I love how in a relatively short time Cyclone has become such force on #gladiators
