Saw the Odyssey. Thoughts: 1) Loved it as a movie. 2) Loved it as an image of the late Bronze Age world. 3) Best final act I've seen in a long while. 4) Bernthal, Zendaya, Hathaway, and Leguizamo were amazing. Just give Hathaway the Oscar now. 5) Not the best Odyssey adaptation, still O Brother.

Thank you, President Zelenskyy, for welcoming me back to Kyiv.   I am here to express the steadfast and unwavering solidarity of the EU, and of Ireland, with the government and people of Ukraine.   Our support for Ukraine is as strong as it has ever been.

Spain’s Nico Williams gave his mother, Maria, his World Cup winner’s medal after Sunday’s final ❤️💛 Nico's parents trekked some 2,000 miles across the Sahara from Ghana to Spain as refugees. Now, their son is a world champion 🥹

Furious that Chris Nolan would disregard historical accuracy in adapting The Odyssey by making a "movie" with "cameras" instead of memorizing the entire story and then going on a nationwide tour to sing it to us while tripping on ergotized barley

This is why cities need trees. Hard surfaces and parked cars can reach extreme temperatures, while shaded grass and tree-covered areas stay dramatically cooler. This is the urban heat island effect in one image: hard surfaces absorb and radiate heat, while vegetation and shade reduce it.

So many people have been so lovely to me and @ottocr.at about Cakewatch today, and over the past few dormant years. We can’t really believe anyone even remembers our chaotic little therapy and catharsis sessions. It’s really very, *very* much appreciated.

Theoretically, if I started a Bluesky MapTap group, would any of you lot want to join? Daily scoreboard plus after you’ve played you can see other people’s guesses on the globe. I’m sorry but I’m a huge nerd and I like this sort of thing 🤓
