I find the absurdist fables of the Talmud so compelling and strangely comforting because its authors clearly understood that Torah must be resilient and supple enough to meet and inform even the most ludicrous realities, that the pickles and shenanigans of the future would defy our very senses

I want to encourage all to follow Samantha for this thread alone. A meaningful peace movement must be vigilant about the rhetoric being deployed amidst our ranks. Samantha provides valuable insight wrt to the tipping point between critique of Israel and antisemitism, which isn’t always obvious

In my experience, “testimony is evidence” is one of the hardest concepts to get laypeople to understand. I see it all the time: “there’s no evidence, just someone’s words” yeah and if those words are under oath, that’s evidence, baby.
This restaurant in PDX was just named one of the best Mexican restaurants in the US and it’s 100% vegan, we love Mis Tacones

i think ideally we would teach religious studies broadly, but this is like christopher hitchens arguing for the iraq war separate and apart from the neocon rationale. what teaching the bible will look like is very different from whatever folks imagine in their idealized cases
Religious studies should be a requirement across basically every humanities and social science major imo. It is fundamental to understanding global politics, economies and basically all human media.
