My calls with my cat's pet health insurance are always 1,000x more pleasant than my own health insurance. They even ended the call by saying, "Please hug your fur baby for us." 🥺 Butters is fine! He might have urine crystals. Cat tax attached.

I am unbelievably touched that @dropout.tv titled my @dimension20.dropout.tv Adventuring Academy episode “A Duty of Care”

I’m overwhelmed today, but I want to circle back in a while to share the links to everyone & everything I cited. More soon.

A Duty of Care (with Dr. Emily Friedman) - Season 7 - Dropout

Dr. Emily Friedman joins Brennan to discuss the history of actual play and the best gaming system. Content Warning: Misophonia (Crunching) - [throughout 54:37-1:01:03]

I have a bunch of laid off/still unemployed media friends who I text layoff news back and forth with, mourning that it's come to this. And that's why I've been spending the summer getting certifications (yes, plural) in other/adjacent industries.

I am so tired of witnessing media layoffs and publications just throwing away amazing talent as this career becomes less and less sustainable and growing numbers of people are pushed out. All for shareholder profits.

Nolan still isn't good at writing women, but even he agrees you should never trust the “nice guy” because he’s actually a sniveling coward who hides behind a pole when things get real. And Agamemnon was pretty much Darth Vader.

When I started freelancing over 12 years ago, I was clueless and, since then, I pledged to help others learn about freelancing, mentoring students and new freelancers. Every year, I teach a Freelancing 101 workshop at USC Annenberg, but I'm grateful to do an event like this outside of my home base!

“There are different archipelagos of the fandom, but what unifies each and every one of them is that they are very responsive to calls to action from the people who are there watching and feeling that they’re in community with,” said @friede.bsky.social, an English professor at Auburn University.

It brings us so much hope and inspiration to see other TTRPG groups across the country activating their communities in the spirit of resistance as well. Keep fighting the good fight out there and stay tuned for news this fall about C4 2027!!! (2/2)

We had a great convo with @mallorycarra.com about turning concerns into opportunity. The Chicago Charity Con Crawl brought our community together in ways we'd only dared to dream, in support of an organization making a real impact on the lives of our neighbors right here in the city. (1/2)

At the Lord of the Rings 25th anniversary concert last night, a woman screamed “Whew!” during a close-up of Aragorn and somehow it wasn’t me (I thought it, though). Great seeing it on the big screen and with an orchestra!

LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring on the big screen! With orchestra! And choral accompaniment! So cool!LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring on the big screen! I snuck this photo, I’m sorry! Aragorn is even hotter on the big screen. 😍
