Plays too many video games. You can read my musings on them here: https://www.polygon.com/authors/austin-manchester
Call me old fashioned, but maybe the point of reviews and critics isn’t just which ones line up with the majority

i keep seeing this image circulated and there are so many horrors contained within that nobody is mentioning the original headline comes from polymarket lol
I tell people all the time that I got lucky with my career and it annoys a lot of them. "No, but you're good," they will say, and I will say, yes, I am good, and also here are all these people who write as well as I do but did not get the same break, so being good isn't the issue, being lucky is.
I am 90% sure my career wouldn't have happened if a couple people hadn't retweeted one of my stories the exact minute they did. You work your hardest, but it's not in your hands. It breaks a lot of people.

To review Big Walk, a terrific multiplayer game all about testing your communication skills, my walkmates and I wrote a co-authored diary chronicling our playthrough from three perspectives. Hopefully it gets across what makes this thing so special. Our review. www.polygon.com/big-walk-rev...

I want to re-emphasize one part of this Xbox story: Half of the 3,200 cuts are happening today and half are happening in the next 12 months. In other words, even people who survived today's layoffs will have to spend the coming year wondering if they're going to be next.
I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.
My child loves going to the library and checking out a new video game every week. Going digital only eliminates libraries as a way people can access games.
Remember, this isn't about getting rid of "ownership" specifically. It's about snuffing out a free market. Physical games have always been about choosing where you make purchases. Competition between retailers. Now, funnel your cash into PlayStation directly, to play games how they say you can.
