School of design that prioritizes "logical interactivity", lending itself to allowing creative problem solving. Or, just telling a designer "yes" when they ask "wouldn't it be cool if *logical thing*?" instead of "no, this breaks the stat ammo ability loop economy".

Define what an immersive sim is without mentioning — stacking objects — 0451 — any game, genre, studio, or dev

Saw Supergirl and got flashbacks to how the Last of Us S2 wrote Ellie like she was still 12 years old. movieKara feels more natural at least compared to showEllie, but I miss the Kara from the comic it's pulling from. Less boyscout Clark, more eldest daughter Harrison Ford.

A lot of fantasy settings don't really explore (for various reasons) technology, military or otherwise. Pillars of Eternity still has a grab bag of weapons and armor from different eras, which is pretty fantastic, but I think if a world has the equivalent of Maximilian plate, they could have guns.

For us this was a long time period with a lot of technological and political innovation and it kind of speaks to how lazy a lot of the gunpowder fantasy attempts are that they never really explore any of that despite having even more space to do so with magic and fantasy races

to the extent that there is a "male loneliness epidemic" it can be put down to the failure of men to play the co-op campaign of splinter cell conviction together, and to a lesser extent the failure of ubisoft to properly support that product

Dislike this trend in modern sound design for games where, to make the guns "realistic", they'll utilize real sound recordings of guns/etc... And so all the guns sound like the same little puppies sneezing.

The whole "we didn't want to just put Ali in a Blade costume and have him kill vampires" is so wild, if you hired an actual action director you could have in fact just done that. Can you imagine a Blade movie by The Raid director?

"Modern vernacular fantasy ideas get read backwards into a text that is perceived as having originated them but which doesn’t really contain them" is such a good way to put that phenomenon, holy shit. I've always wanted to find the right way to articulate that point.

Thread from tom Kilian (@tomkilianart.bsky.social) about how hobbit adaptations diverge from the source material in weird ways

I'm putting together a bunch of my floating ideas into a comic project about hyper-violent, horny, goblinoids in space. Here's what'll probably be The Main Trio (Red, Jace, & Paddy), some concept art, and some doodles of them fuckin.

"Do nothing, win" seems like such a good strategy for any company when your opponents are desperately trying to make a Trillion Dollars a Day because some MBA dipshit told them they need to

Something that gets me is Mamdani seems to understand the pace (and therefore short memory) of the modern world. He's constantly reminding you he's here and alive, something that's debatable for most other politicians.
