The allegations of plagiarism that Cofnas surfaced? Liverpool John Moores had already investigated & cleared him & is *still* not being included in most articles. Jason Stanley explains why again there was a basic failure of journalistic understanding & why people took Cofnas’s framing over LJM’s

A professor writes: (Jason Stanley) The problem is that journalists failed to do basic journalism. Not a single reporter seems to have checked’ Jason Arday’s citations. The ‘quantifiable metrics’ of his work. Prof Stanley did: ‘Arday is easily comparable to the leading scholars in the field’

Israel has finally admitted to killing Hind Rajab. 933 days later. Zeteo's @premthakker.bsky.social spent years pressing the US and Israeli governments on this killing – all for them to deflect and lie. If it took this long for the truth to come out, how can you trust Israel on anything?

Weird how none of these newfound champions for women when it comes to Jon Ossoff saying (gasp!) that Trump "wants to travel with Natalie" have anything to say about the outstanding 3 million documents in the Epstein files that are being suppressed by this administration.

Ed Davey, "The small boats crisis has been caused by Reform UK and the Conservatives, and their Brexit support" "Before we left the EU we could return people and now we can't" "But if we join the EU’s Migration and Asylum Pact, we could return every single person who came over on a small boat"

There can be no way that Farage would cope with the power, workload and scrutiny of government. He can’t even run a small club without turning into an absurd little despot at the first sign of disagreement. The man is ridiculous. His political end cannot come soon enough.

The party structure reflects Farage's internal power. Under its constitution, just three members of the board are elected, with the others made up of the leader, the chairman, and other figures selected by the chairman.
This is how insecure people arrange an organisation: by making challenges to their leadership next-to impossible and asserting their dominance over its decision-making body. It never works. This type of figure always fails in the end.
They lack the self-confidence and the intellectual weight to succeed.

Private Eye going all the way with lurid Arday comparisons — Jeffrey Archer, Mohamed Fayed? And since when is a putative ‘pitch document’ the same as “put in the public domain”?

Jason Arday's death will/has quickly become about 'the media shouldn't be censored' & 'journalists shouldn't be condemned'. The discussion that should be had is why journalism can't calmy reflect & scrutinise itself. It's about the culture. The water we swim in. The knee-jerk response confirms this.

David Davis (October 10th 2016), "We will make a success of Brexit" "There will be no downside to Brexit at all, and considerable upside" They promised everything, delivered poverty, barriers to trade and created a case study for the world's worst example of self-harm a nation has ever undertaken.

"We must rage against its cruelty, against the casual conversion of humiliation into entertainment, against the idea that because each blow can be defended in isolation no one bears responsibility for the beating" Poignant reflections by my colleague @iainoverton.bsky.social on Jason Arday's death:

Jason Arday: We Must Rage – Rage Against the Journalism of Cruelty

The death of the academic shows the casual conversion of humiliation into entertainment by a media running on monetised hate and cruelty
