Universities have now become business entities working with high-paying customers. They (unis) compete for clients' interest and money just like any other business. Cutting out departments and job positions is in line with all of that -if a branch is unprofitable, it is closed.

If you take a dog and speak to it in two languages, will it become bilingual?

Why are so many educators fervently trying to incorporate AI into their practise? If they can do their job well without it, then it certainly sits very suspicious for me. It is like an acknowledgement they were not so good before and they suddenly discovered AI can help them become better.

I have now seen on two ocassions high profile academics in the field of language and linguistics trying to compare human output against AI output for markers if stance! AI cannot have a stance on a topic, for one, and what is the purpose of this anyway? 🤷‍♀️
