John has confirmed that he finished the challenge today. A great achievement which deserves mention here.

Although I live fairly near to the sea, I hadn't checked the subject of this week's #WildflowerHour but I took these pictures recently anyway!
Beautiful mass of colourful plants, despite the drought. Well, it would be beautiful, except that it's supposed to be a footpath! I had to reroute a new version of @slowwaysuk.bsky.social Tewkesbury to Cheltenham along a road instead ☹️. Maybe one for #WildflowerHour instead.
Throughout August, children in England can travel by bus for free. This is a great initiative, saving families money and the hassle of driving, as well as giving buses a real boost. BUT 1 in 7 people live in places without a decent bus service - more must also be done to improve connections.
#PostboxSaturday Leaning hexagonal Victorian postbox, cluttering the pavement together with #phonebox eScooters cables box and litter bin. A nightmare if you're #VisuallyImpaired.
Not a #FingerpostFriday, more of a #FingerlessPostFriday. Coming down from Cleeve Hill on @slowwaysuk.bsky.social route Bishop's Cleeve to Winchcombe. Gorgeous route in the #Cotswolds #Gloucestershire.
For the 5th consecutive year child casualties have flat-lined at around 13,000 road casualties of age 16 and under. In what other area of life would the death or injury of 13,000 children be "acceptable"? The government has a Road Safety Strategy that aims to reduce child KSIs by 70%.

The Hoffmann Kiln at Langcliffe near Settle is one of the most significant surviving lime kilns in the country. Today, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the Dales' industrial past, where innovation, hard work and the natural environment came together. 📸 Reluctant Explorers
Views from my recent @slowwaysuk.bsky.social walk from Bassenthwaite to Keswick. Via 80% of Skiddaw! Too hot for the last bit. Note, I travelled by train and bus, including a double decker on the M6 with no seat belts 😳
This looks a really useful book! It would be great to reduce the number of visitor cars in the Lake District!
A £2 bus fare cap will be back 'if the public purse allows' - Andy Burnham and new Chancellor John Healey have the opportunity to instantly save £1bn (and £bns going forward) if they scrap the poor value for money, privatised Lower Thames Crossing.
Reintroducing the £2 bus fare cap is a good start. For too long, political under-investment has treated bus networks as an afterthought instead of the vital public service they are. inews.co.uk/news/burnham...

#FingerpostFriday from near Buxton #PeakDistrict Also a notice reminding owners to keep dogs on leads throughout March to July to protect ground nesting birds. I'm sick of seeing this rule ignored.

The number of cars on US roadways has been growing at a rate of 10 to 15 million *every year.* There are now 300 million vehicles and only 6.5% are electric. But you’ll never see an article about how the growth of vehicle emissions is “so severe it’s almost incomprehensible.”
“Cornell researchers found that at the current rate of AI growth, the burgeoning industry could represent 24 to 44 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, the equivalent of adding five to ten million cars to US roadways.”
