You know... Even with Steam, you can always Backup your game files to a physical CD. And with scripting you can autorun your installed copy when the disk is inserted, and with SteamGameCovers you can use already-made designs... Just a random thought... (cough, cough Sony)... #gamedev #indiedev

After yesterday's FIFA's world cup match of Argentina vs Cabo Verde I just can't get this image out of my head. So I had to do it... (The anime is To Be Hero X btw)

The rise of LLM AI code generation has made it easier then ever to generate code... ... and this has created massive problems for open source projects. To the point the #GodotEngine just outright banned AI contributions! gamefromscratch.com/godot-say-no... #gamedev #indiedev

Godot Say No To AI – GameFromScratch.com

The Godot Foundation have just banned AI code submissions in an update to their contributor policy in an attempt to battle AI slop code

People are exhausting. This is already a blanket ban on AI, except for what is literally undetectable, and people here are acting like it's still not good enough. There is nothing more that can be done right now, like that's the entire problem.

Unreal quadrupling down on AI? Well, if you're considering Godot, keep in mind that the last version that was not made with AI contributions was 4.5. You can perhaps extend some courtesy to 4.6, but 4.7 openly includes AI-generated code and LLM-assisted changes. Do with this info what you will.

I hate AI, but I used it locally... But for what? My AI common uses were: coding sorting, recursive/walking, and numeric clamping + interpolation functions. All trivial utilities, which I can do myself and that otherwise taint any project I'm on. So yeah, fuck AI. Code is also art, thus I'm Anti-AI

The news of RPG Maker Web forums closing remembered me the important role forums have on the internet as public knowledge bases, a role that gated non-indexable communities (like Discord) can't replace. But it also made me notice how easily all that knowledge can be erased...
