I said I’d be back with an article on this. July 2026 marks a significant month in the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) adoption in Ireland. EV sales are up 61.06% in 2026, making them the #1 fuel type, overtaking all other fuel types!

Ok, I’ve an article in progress on historical data for EV adoption in Ireland. But holy moly, #EVs are now the #1 fuel source for pass vehicles sold in Ireland! EV sales are up 61% over 2025, and hold a 26.12% market share of fuel sources, above Petrol elec (non-PHEV) at 24.59%. #EVSky #IEVA

Oh, just came back to me. Really interesting dynamic in the conversations today. Only 2 people of 17(?) speakers mentioned AI today. Why mention this? A) Electrification is about real solutions you can touch, real hands on sort of things B) The room could be felt to sour when AU was mentioned

In other news from today, it seems that this scheme was filled *technically* in minutes and not hours. Rural demand was ~20 mins to close out on, Urban took just over the hour 😮‍💨

Today was cool. Got to attend the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment's first event as part of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026. Which was made all the cooler by the location, #ArdnacrushaHydroStation the home of Ireland’s #Electrification journey 100 years ago!

In Malmo, the uncompromisingly ambitious builder-developer ETC Bygg has achieved something revolutionary. This here is a building made from straw: 12 storeys, 38 meters tall, with a fully timber structure (including core), wrapped in EcoCocon's straw panel external wall system.

This is a good step forward, and one we have requested action on in our @ievasso.bsky.social Pre-Budget Submissions from prior years! Nice to see the balance of rural vs urban to incentivise this in higher numbers in rural addresses!

Solar is great, a slightly jaggedy line, but almost what you’d see as a perfect day for production. Also, I don’t recommend people put panels North facing, but I love the blip in the evenings where I get the setting sun on my North facing panels, running the house up to 9pm at night on Solar!!

In other news, dropped of my Hyundai Ioniq AE for a motor & reduction box bearing replacement. We are badly under supported for this. I had to drive from the Mid-West to the Sunny South east for a specialist to do this. 224kms. Then a bus, a Luas and two trains hope, which I worked on all the way!!

I don't think we have come to terms with the fact that shitposting is a super power. Elon Musk basically shitposted his company into a meme stock worth 20x the fundamentals to be the world's richest man. Trump shitposted his way into become the most unchecked corrupt president ever.

The #FerrariLuce has been revealed. And it’s like all traditional OEMs when they launch an #EV, in so far as it’s not a looker. Jag I-Pace vibes to it, but also, looks like a knockoff of a Ferrari and not a Ferrari you’d expect…. Not that I’m being one soon 😂

Sort of an overcast day in #TreatyCity and I’m exporting away to the grid (6.1kWh of 7.8kWh generated so far). This would work really well here, we are still so far behind the curve to what we should be doing here in IRL. We don’t need trials, pilots or whatever you want to call it. Just do it!!

France is mandating solar panels on every large commercial car park in the country — turning millions of square metres of idle asphalt into one of Europe's most productive clean energy assets. I have been mentioning this for months - they are shooting up on all the supermarket car parks.

Wow, Engel into the barriers, such a small mistake but those curbs on the Nordschleife bite so hard for such a small touch 🫣

Challenge 1: we have an ongoing oil crisis and no one knows when it will end. Challenge 2: we have so much solar electricity we will pay people to use it on a regular basis. If only there were some kind of globally proven technology that solves both challenges (with other massive benefits).

Belgium 2026. Brilliant trip with my dad and brothers. Lots of chats, beer, food, race cars. I was supposed to have an EV, but Europcar had a Hyundai Inster for 4x men, not what I had booked… ended up with a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.
