Pádraig Smith took over as club president at the start of the 2023 season and the Rapids were very solidly in the red on transfer fees before the Harrington deal. So they've done some good work selling guys, but man have they squandered those winnings putting together an 11th-place team.

Colorado got Herrington from the A-League (Brisbane Roar) for $800k + Brisbane kept 20% sell-on. Colorado then bought out the sell-on for $560k, JUST TWO MONTHS AGO, right before the World Cup. That sell-on ended up being worth at least $3.4m (up to $4.6m) Tidy work by the Rapids.

There is no question of which, “have less stories told about your club,” is the answer. Access = Narrative The entirety of MLS All-Star Game Press Corp camaraderie was centered around the oral tradition of telling the world news of your home. Clear which Clubs support Independent Journalists.

Football reporting is increasingly national and international. Fair enough. The Capital J Journalists scoopsters earn their jobs. Local MLS coverage is a grind. Direct access is our best chance to add value. Limiting that hurts the bottom of this pyramid which is still critical.

Obviously a lot of reporting today about the possibility of Lucas Herrington being moved onto Hull City for what could be a massive fee. The Colorado Rapids don't play again until August 15.

#Rapids96 had all the top brass in for the R2 vs St. Louis 2 match June 6th. Can imagine they knew a first team deal was impending and wanted to double check their call on Palmer. FWIW, I believe Pids have a very specific StatDNA profile for forwards in general and 9’s specifically. (1/3)

For those wondering Palmer Ault was drafted by Colorado in the 2024 SuperDraft. Rapids had his rights through the end of 2025. So he became a free agent January 1, 2026.
