Getting increasingly pissed off at funding agencies, both government and philanthropy, NOT providing feedback on why applications are not successful. This should be mandatory for transparency and improvement. And it gives the impression that something is being hidden....🤔

Companies selling faulty products by accident recall them and reimburse the customers. Some cost, some (temporary) loss in prestige perhaps. No one goes to jail. This is not the case here. This is more akin to the Theranos or VW emission scandals. And people did go to jail for these.
