Egypt and Iran have requested that Pride events in Seattle during their World Cup match be canceled and… no. Welcome to Seattle. This might be the most patriotic I’ve felt in my life. Pride isn’t happening during your game; you’re here during Pride. Suck a rainbow. apnews.com/article/worl...

Iran and Egypt will meet, uncomfortably, in Seattle's World Cup 'Pride Match'

Egypt and Iran are two of the most repressive countries for gays and lesbians. But by sheer coincidence they will square off in a World Cup “Pride Match” in Seattle coinciding with the city’s annual c...

In Definitely-Not-A-Sign-of-Neurodivergence, I'm mad at the espresso machine in the hotel lobby because its screen says "Touch to Begin" and then it has you select your beverage. But it doesn't tell you the actual first step is to put down a cup.

How it started, & how it’s going: Almost a decade after I ran TTRPGs in my downtime during a week at @folger.edu I’m headed back to DC for the 26-27 school year as the Folger Public Humanities Fellow, creating ways for Playful Media of all kinds to flourish. It is, literally, my dream come true.

If you told this woman running D&D for a bunch of scholars during an intensive 2-week seminar at @folgerlibrary.bsky.social that D&D would be discussed & played AT the Folger six years later (almost exactly!) — & that she would be studying TTRPGs in performance — I don’t think I’d have believed you.

To people who have been on the Internet for awhile - Do you have this thing where you have known a person for years, you definitely know them and their name, but because you have only seen their online handles for the past several years you just blank on their actual name?

Lot of conversation about antisemitism this week so just a gentle reminder that we don’t hyphenate the word, because it implies there is such a thing as a “Semitic” race (there isn’t, there’s only Semitic language) - and implying there is a Jewish race is of course deadly for the Jews. More info:

Screenshot of a twitter thread:

"Semitism" is not a real thing, it comes from the word Semitic, referring to a group of languages originating from the Middle East.

In 1867 an antisemitic German journalist started using the term "Anti-Semitic" to refer to prejudice against Jewish people because he perceived us as an inferior race and not just a religious group, and then the term caught on.

But using it with the hyphen would imply that "anti-semitism" is hate against Semites which again is not a real group and it was just a way for antisemites to attempt to classify Jews into this pseudo-scientific racial group which they thought was inferior

@challahbackjew

We use "antisemitism" without the hyphen to distinguish from the semitic language group (and these hateful origins) when discussing pre against Jewish people.

FYI for fellow narrative designers/game writers: the studio in question is Sentona Games and it’s my understanding they are currently interviewing to replace me. Be very careful with them. They were very nice to me and easy to work with right up until I needed the money I was promised.

On Monday I sent a plea to the client who owes me $24k for months and months of work, owed to me since September, saying that if they do not pay me by the end of the month I will lose my apartment and that they should show some humanity and pay the invoice They of course have not paid the invoice

Starting Heated Rivalry and I have questions: 1. How do drafts work? 2. How does Shane's sport dad not know what YouTube is? 3. Will Shane ever take off his socks? 4. Sometimes I think I miss flip phones. 5. I assume the book this is based on is based on the DropOut gameshow so
