This is maybe the perfect example of @gregpak.net bit that replacing every instance of “AI” with “cocaine” gets to the deeper truth of the attitude.
There is a lengthy pro-AI screed in the latest HWA newsletter and it is . . . a mood.

not only is AI music written through a scheme that stole what is our family's livelihood, not only does it hurt the planet, but: AI MUSIC IS NOT COPYRIGHTABLE. the record label makes money by licensing music for use in other projects. if you don't own the copyright, you can't license. it's simple.

This also seems right to me. I don’t have a boss anymore but lots of my patients do and this describes what is happening in their workplaces to a T. Managers are displaying the worst traits of learned helplessness and authoritarian abuse simultaneously.
I feel like the misuse of AI chatbots has gotten so bad that managers and CEOs just treat their employees the same way, giving less than the bare minimum of vague instructions for the worker to infer, because they can't spend the cognitive effort it takes to formulate what they want
“SAT test scores were an average 16 points lower in counties that observed seasonal daylight saving time compared with those on permanent standard time. The gap widened among lower-income students.” I’m a permanent standard time girlie.

NYPIRG canvasser in western upstate NY told me yesterday that he's getting tons of first-time conservative donors because NYPIRG 's #1 issue is data centers. They want Gov Hochul to go beyond her exec order and to sign the legislation passed.

As a defender of traditional gender roles, I am concerned that Ed is promoting Finding Nemo, where Marlin stays male after his wife died. When the dominant female dies the largest male clownfish turns female. This is basic biology! I don't want my child to grow up confused about clownfish.

Where I learn I somehow missed Season 4 of Babylon Berlin. If you love detective shows, this one, set during Weimar Germany amidst the rise of the Nazis is one of the best.
#BabylonBerlin's final season – covering the five short weeks over February 1933 when German democracy collapsed – finally has a trailer and a release date.
Unbelievable backside flip. Dude in the car clearly a skater because he knows you only get one take that good
I hope this guy just drives around town cheering everyone on.
Jeff Buckley was an artist too special for this world. Lover You Should've Come Over is such a powerful example of his stunning artistry. " Id give my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder " is imo one of the greatest lyrics of all time youtu.be/vLHcHWDvgfQ?...

Oh this thing is dead as hell, then. They aren't going to pay over $1bn to shareholders (and thats if the trial starts and ends on March 1st) on a merger that they wanted to push through as fast as possible. Thank god.
The antitrust trial for the Warner Bros/Paramount merger will take place in March 2027. Paramount must begin paying WB shareholders $7M a day on Sept. 30 until the deal is complete.
