Crisis in Japanese politics: With virtually no letters left in the roman alphabet following the AKB/HKT/NGZ run in the early 2010s and the spate of party mergers over the past 25 years, the collapse of the CRA would mean that further opposition groups will require flag semaphore to name themselves.

the other problem with all the practical stuff (tracking a few trillion in hardware is not a simple task, particularly when a lot of that hardware is designed to get blown up) aside for a moment is that the bean counters just straight up do not agree how to book depreciation on military hardware

the issue with the audit is traceability everyone knows where all the money is going (if we didn't the appropriators would raise holy hell), the problem is being able to account for every dollar throughout the entire life cycle of that dollar, through depreciation and ultimate disposal

If you’re in the US, expect maps on your phone to start showing you “Lake America” soon, now that the US Geological Survey has updated the GNIS. The USGS is a fabulous resource for spatial data in so many ways. And now it has to implement this stupid shit, for the most spiteful of reasons. Gross.

I was recently approached for a recruitment opp in Canada. The research $ was less than the grants I currently have (that I could not transfer) & top of the salary scale significantly less than I make, in a city 2.5X my current cost of living. Non-starter unless the gestapo were kicking my door down

Past American dominance in science is not due to a few dozen “top scholars.” It’s due to America 🇺🇸 spending ENORMOUSLY more on science than other countries and distributing it widely. Canada 🇨🇦 boasting about attracting “top talent” of a few dozen people is not serious. And not US “brain drain.”

Stuff like this always reminds me of the target in one of the Killing Eve books who's a Milo-ripoff who gets blown to bits by an explosive charge in his massive dildo he uses to sodomize himself, dressed like Eva Braun.
