"Why can't you just appreciate how revolutionary the job-taking, environment-degrading, information-shredding, technology-hoarding, economy-swamping machine is?" My brother in Christ, there may indeed be a revolution in part because of "AI," but it might not be the one you wanted.

Ah so sorry to hear that. May be worth checking out fiverr or similar to support creativity. Or old fashioned stock images and memes 😅 It's hard to gauge when AI is being an addition to a team and not a replacement. I'd be interested on seeing the talk if it was recorded.
#LDX3 What does a CTO even do? by Dee Kitchen 1. Do we have the right people? 2. Do we have the right technology? 3. Do we have the right product vision? 4. Do we have the right balance between innovation and liability 5. Do we have the right enablement and sales motion?
I had a fantastic time talking about crowdsourcing platform engineering work we did at Cash App while at the LDX3 LeadDev conference in London this week! Now off to exploring more of the UK 🇬🇧☕️💂 #LDX3 #LeadDev #EngLeadership
Excellent talk by @mbudnikova.bsky.social on crowd sourcing platform engineering. It's all about the culture and bringing people along
AI gen is just turning into another consumer thing everyone buys. In 10y, people who took the time to learn production instead of just prompts are going to be absolutely priceless. They're going to be paid insane money while everyone else is stuck fighting over who can write the best prompt.

Square literally does not know or care about any of this. No reason to participate. Many projects are effectively maintained outside the company now, and those engineers may choose to fork simply as a way to indicate that Block is not involved.
Given this, calls for boycotting Square OSS are stupid. It's disrespectful to the hard work all these ex-Square engs have done. It won't hurt Square the company in any meaningful way, it just makes a bunch of your Android peers sad.
The way I am managing the layoff: building miniature houses and walking the cemetery 🪦💀
Block thing happened… but I feel grateful to have learned from the legends of Android engineering during my time there. Taking two weeks to study Korean, play guitar& build Legos with my son. Then I will be exploring the fun roles where I can build, connect and make this world a better place ❤️
i dont know if its always been like this but among the elites theres just no sense of responsibility to be good stewards of the society thats given them everything
I suspect it will be a different watershed moment: Jack has just torpedoed Square and Cash App, and when real people start losing real money as a result this will become the horror story that people point to when warning of the limits of AI driven coding.
Amazon just announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year. UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year. Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M. This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.
Here is Goose, BTW. It is Open Source from Block and has both CLI and GUI versions. It can take actions on your behalf (and will) and can be extended via MCP. Follow @angiejones.tech if you are interested and aren’t already. github.com/block/goose
